I palled down there all round down to sherrif st when i was a young i was a rambler as a kid. There was si much to do in terms of exploring because of the deraliction. The city was in bits, gray run down but great for kids.Everyone was in poverty back then in the early seventies. I've been in Dublin in August 1979, I knew Colm O'Laoghaire (Telefis Eireann) and his wife Nora. They picked up me while hitch-hiking from Galway, to Dublin. Good days! A great hallo to their sons and doughters from Italy.

Uh Oh baby, you're so beautiful I wanna be your man I wanna kiss you loads of times And hold your fuckin' hand But your father doesn't like me Your father don't approve We'll ask him if he'll fight me 'Cause I'm in love with you Róisín, I wanna fight your father! Róisín, I wanna fight your father! 'Cause I'm a black belt in karate And a master of Kung Fu And I'll kick his fuckin' teeth in Just to prove my love to you 'Cause your big fat fuckin' father He said he wants it all resolved But your big fat fuckin' father He shouldn't have got himself involved 'Cause I float just like a butterfly I sting just like a bee Baby, you won't find another guy What loves you more than me Róisín, I wanna fight your father! (Hey!) Róisín, I wanna fight your father! And do he know how much I love you? And do he know the things I'd do? (Uh) And do he know I sold his hub caps (Yeah) Just to pay for your tattoo? Well your daddy said he'd suss me out He says I'll break your heart But if your daddy had a busted mouth He wouldn't be so smart Now you can bet your life I'm going to put him in his place I wanna take a Stanley knife And open up his face Róisín, I wanna fight your father! Róisín, I'm gonna fight your father! I'm gonna fight your fuckin' father, yuh

I have always loved to listen to Brendan Behan talks, his writings, his truth, his great wisdom, his wit. Imagine the shock when recently I learned that I am related to Brendan Behan and his family through his uncle Peader Kearney who wrote "Amhrán na bhFiannhen, it took me quite a time to get up off the floor but yet in a sense comfortable state of shock and I hope that this feeling will never wear off

So much of hip hop (not all but a lot of it) thrives on sexism on misogyny. It's a welcome change to have a song that not only avoids this, but actually takes a stand against it.

Does anyone know how are the words for sister and brother and the word chéile pronounced, and how are the DH and DHEA letter combinations pronounced? I cannot tell what sounds are those at the beginning, and most ppl teaching Irish say that ch is pronounced close to an H sound kinda like the soft G and the CH in Dutch and that DE and DI are pronounced with a ğ sound like the dgi in the English word bridge, but in this video they sound like a different sound that I cannot figure out and sometimes like a normal G sound, while the CH in chéile sounded like the CH in the English word chips, and sometimes I thought I heard a Z sound in some of those words, so I was very confused by that, and I also cannot tell if the Rs are said before the vowels or after the vowels like the spelling in the words that mean brother and sister, so a normal phonetic spelling (with one letter per sound only) would help a lot for the more complicated words! For example, I think I heard grahár with a normal G sound and the R before the A sound when the word deartháir was pronounced, and for the word derfiúr I think I heard grafiur or grahiur, though I am not sure, so, did I hear them correctly? And for the ones with DH at the beginning I cannot tell which consonant sound that was, if it was a Z or an H or a D etc…

This is an awesome lesson and very achievable, if one doesn't look at the transcript of this recording and the translations given!! Advice to anyone trying to catch the phrases in the written form...skip it!! It'll only confuse the heck out of you!! Just go with the spoken word and pause and hit reply to clarify the audio words.
