For 12 years of age Ariel is a major talent. 1:35 Here we have a classic case of a sluggish orchestra, a conductor who can't get them into gear and a determined pianist who insists on keep the thrust going as rightly she should while the conductor is trying to hold them back, thus the serious loss of synchronization. Had Ariel tried to adjust to the orchestra's slowdown in tempo it would have destroyed the music line. Instead, Ariel just forged ahead and the conductor had no choice but to push the orchestra forward with her to keep soloist and orchestra together. I could tell right away Ariel is a pianist who even at this tender age has a will of her own and is not to be trifled with. One can only hope she gets the chance to perform this concerto with an orchestra worthy of her talent.

However, I would like to point out that this orchestra is only a youth orchestra, where we are growing together and sharing our experiences. I am a proud member of it and I am forever grateful for all the opportunities they have given to me. Learning from our mistakes will be a way to play better the next time. +ANL L You're a tremendous talent, Ariel. I hope you get to play the entire concerto sometime soon and you post a video of it. It is my favorite piano concerto and the one that inspired my own Piano Concerto No 2 in C Minor Op 2 which many people have compared favorably with Rachmaninoff's own. I hope to see you in ten years or so at the Chopin Int'l Competition. Good luck.
