Halfway in, I understood every word he was saying. I mentally experimented giving everything away. Everything is temporary. I couldn't control everything in the first place. Letting go allowed me to keep my energy rather than wasting it on worry.

He might seem to be saying the the most enlightened humans are newborn infants, completely ignorant of what they desire. But he's not saying that, as one must at least know that they don't know. Just as one cannot know courage without first knowing fear.

In most of his videos there is a background noise that sounds like pencil on paper. Almost as if someone in the room was drawing continuous circles near a microphone. Do you hear it? My best guess is a mic on his shirt that’s continuously rubbing on his shirt.

I gave this some serious thought one morning as I sat looking out at the farm and a crane flew by giving me patience. Than as I truly saw we always get what we want a cardinal flew in beside me giving me a cardinal message.

Very much enjoy listening to this insightful man. I do, however, take exception with him about his comment that if one intends to meditate, one is not meditating. Meditation can be spontaneous, happening on its own, or it can be conscious, intentional. I speak from my own experience. Meditation is the means by which we draw from the inner and universal well of wisdom, of which mind is the arena.

its still a contradiction, no one would sit together without the pre thought of getting something out of it, all we do is from that reason and never will be anything else, there is nothing spontanous, its all karma/action/gunaaction reaction, even not reacting is still a reaction so there is no way out and there is no buddha and no enlightenment

"...then you realize, there's nothing for you to do - then what are you gonna do?" Oh , but isn't that the paradoxical trap of Zen and Koans that can never be answered? So. Damn. Frustrating. The more I study and practice, the more messed up it gets - and I've been studying this stuff off and on since 2005. And everytime I come back, I think there'll be something new for me to discover. There isn't. The only thing I know exists directly from empirical evidence are: we get old, we get sick, we will all die, everything and everyone I love will change or end, and the fifth reflection - all I really possess are my actions, (which supposedly produces karma), are up for long debate, in my view. So therefore.... it's time for me to walk away from it all. For good.

Life is a celebration of life. Proper function of religion isn't seeking but Thanksgiving. It's not something you do to get something. Meditation is only sitting. As soon as you seek something, you no longer meditate. What you experience is you. Don't take religion seriously. Thanks Alan. 🤩🍁🦋🍰😇💖⚡🎡🎯🥂🦉⭐🐋🌾🐘💎
