I am astonished Lotus has survived to this point, because frankly their cars have always been crap. Years ago a friend bought a Lotus Esprit. I seriously suggested he buy two fire extinguishers and he laughed at me. Three weeks later when I saw him he handed me the Lotus badge from the front of the car sitting in a charred omelette of fiberglass. Not only did the car burn to a cinder, the magnesium wheels were impossible to extinguish and melted the street.

Food for thought for the haters: A modern metric cruiser with classic styling has a new MSRP of around $10k. None of the options have motors over 1000cc's, unless you get into full dressers but that's not what this video is about. The Heritage Classic MSRP's for around $22k, which is around double the cost of the metric bikes. However, it also has double the motor, double the hp, and more than double the torque, plus multiple color and trim options. It follows the same logic that causes a Dodge Challenger Hellcat to costs twice as much as its own base model Challenger, or a double barrel shotgun to cost twice as much as a normal shotgun. So if you hate Harley for the cost, buy a smaller motorcycle. If you hate Harleys like this for the look and style, then you must not like classic 1940s-60's style, which is fine, but you have to understand some people DO like it. Some people still go to classic car shows for that special style. It's cool Harley and Indian still offer classic styled bikes for that demographic, and I hope they never change. If it's not your style, that's literally all that is; your smelly ass opinion.

Nothing but a glorified Road King😂😂😂😂 and way overpriced like all their bikes and their new fairing is ugly
@EvanWilliams866 ай бұрын
It's not a glorified road king, it's not even on the same frame as a road king. The Heritage has always been the throwback to 60's and older styles. The roadking took over as the newer and bigger version of a modern classic bike. The glides are the fully modern full fairing touring bikes. but the heritage is on a completely different frame. Also this bike, which is a limited edition with rare paint and trim, MSRPs at the same pricepoint as the current base model road king...

Conned!
@EvanWilliams866 ай бұрын
What if: what if there are people who like going to classic car shows, classic hot rods, motorcycles, stuff like that, who would like a bike pulled straight from that classic era? What if Harley understands it literally created THE motorcycle culture now used globally, and they want to celebrate the golden era in which they made their biggest improvements? Is that a con? To be an enthusiast for the most classic era of motorcycles and get the chance to buy a modern bike with genuinely vintage styles? What is the alternative? If someone wants that classic styling, but with a big enough cruiser to ride distance on interstate, what's the alternative? Suzuki with their 800 cc cruiser, with one color option (white)? Honda with their shadow 750? Kawasaki with their Vulcan 900? All priced at about half the cost of the harley, but with half the motor, half the hp, half the torque. I've owned metric cruisers, harleys, and sport bikes, and harley gets my vote for actual style, personality, character, and SOUL over any metric all day. If a metric cruiser gets your soul moving, then congrats, you're a cheap date. But I've had metrics, they put me to sleep, I don't feel "conned" getting Harleys. They're toys, how much do you THINK they should cost? $10k for an 1800cc full dress cruiser?

HD's new range is ugly and extortionately priced. They cannot attract new, younger buyers because of this, so think us oldies can be coned by "nostalgia"!

Here… let’s remake a model our grandfather rode so we can continue to offer little to nothing to advance the brand or sport. My 2022 road glide is my last Harley. I will return to metric bikes. This is my 9th HD in a row and I feel betrayed by HD.
@EvanWilliams866 ай бұрын
What are the metrics doing that's any different? What's the metric version of a road glide, the Kawasaki Vaquero? How is it so much more innovative at it's $20k MSRP for similar motor size and features? I never understand when people get mad at Harley for not "advancing the sport". What if instead of "advancing the sport", they decided to make bikes for people who like the sport right where it is? You've bought 9 Harleys and suddenly you think a metric copycat is going to solve all your problems?
@vf124974396 ай бұрын
@@EvanWilliams86 who said I was going copy cat? An in line 4? A dual sport? A v4?
@EvanWilliams866 ай бұрын
@@vf12497439 Just me personally, I wouldn't feel Harley "betrayed" me for not switching from V-twin to inline 4 or v4's, even if they are "more advanced". Harley makes Vtwins, if you feel Harley is "behind" for not making a different kind of motor, I don't know what to tell you. I hope they DON'T make a different kind of motor, i like Vtwins and prefer them over others I've had. Being mad at Harley for making the bikes they've always made is like being mad at Henry rifles for only making lever actions.

People actually do like these bikes. I bought one myself. It’s beautiful and I’m pretty sure Harley can develop other bikes while dedicating some small creative resources to dress up their existing line-up for limited editions.

@JayBee-cr8jm8 ай бұрын
@@FelixBueno Everything. In three years I had two transmission failures (shift shaft and shifter pawl), two failed voltage regulators, failed horn and failed heated grips. I also experience soft wheel powder coating, poor anodization and weak frame paint. The anodization on the mirror stems went from black to grey to bare steel in just 3 years. Other small parts were also affected. Everything faded. The engine burned oil from new. When endless complaints to the dealer were ignored I contacted Triumph. Triumph offered to help so they contacted the dealer. For reasons I will never understand they lied to them and said I hadn't informed them of any troubles! Boom, just like that, no warranty for me. A different Triumph dealership found low compression on #3. (250psi, 240psi and 190psi). To top it all off, the bike was absolutely chock full of "known issues", none of which were known to me when I bought it. There was the suspension hop from the front forks, the weak charging system, the soft wheel spacers and the steering lock which didn't work because the locking pin wasn't actually long enough to prevent the bars from turning. After 3 years and 44k miles the bike was worn out. I couldn't leave town on it anymore. Bad bike. Bad dealer. Bad manufacturer. Three strikes, I'm out. Nothing is as good as it used to be. Even Honda quality is dropping. Despite this, I had more problems with that one Triumph than I've had with the new 3 Japanese bikes I've owned. Unless Triumph has made profound changes to design, manufacture, testing, quality control and customer satisfaction I wouldn't buy another.
