Are your LEDs the 12 volt units? I have everything I need to do this but was concerned the LEDs might draw to much power from the DCC system.

this video moves to fast and is hard to follow because you can't read and watch at the same time, a slower more explanation video would be nice i was pausing every 2-5 sec to see what was going on

I don't understand why you cut and wired to the middle of the strip?

Congratulations on the video! Could you tell me the technical specifications of the rectifier? Thanks.

This would've been so much easier to understand if you would've verbally explained it.

Why do you need a rectifier if you are using LED for lightening? an LED is a half wave rectifier by itself. I do not think the human eye will notice the flickering at 50 Hz -or whatever Märklin is using.

Prevents the capacitor from feeding power back to the track.

daimlerking44 Sorry it is too fast. You could pause the video I guess. I made it fast since I thought the other videos I watched were often so slow and boring.

Hi this is for the Marklin AC system. It works on the analog AC, or the digital AC from the Central Station.

Fernando Torres DCC is basically a square wave DC current, so the same principle applies.

Do your lights dim after a time?
@stephenwhipple7814

I have not noticed that they dim. I guess they could, depending on the quality of the LEDs or the capacitor.

Thanks for posting this, it should come in real handy as I'll be doing this for the first time soon. Before I go out and buy the materials I just wanted to check one thing: because of the bridge rectifier this set up will work on C - Track as well, even though it is AC, right?

I forgot to say the LEDs come in rolls of 300 for about 14 dollars on amazon or 7 dollars on ebay. You just cut off how many you need for each car. Search on key words like these: "5 Meter Reel Warm White 3100K Flexible LED Ribbon 300 LEDs"
