Great video, thanks for posting! Wilson's music is always a treat, both in composition and execution. The mixing and engineering are always spot on and the musicians he has around him always are of the highest caliber. Add to that the vison and creativity of Owl House Studios Jess Cope and her crew for the eye candy, and as you can see you end up with something deeply moving and utterly timeless. I have Steven to thank for making me aware of so much incredible new music. Not just Guthrie and Marco, but Beggs, Holtzman, and so many others. Be sure to check out some of the other Owl House videos, The Raven, Routine, and King Ghost to name a few. His live stuff is also incredible, but I have to admit that I'm partial to the earlier SW solo live stuff that had Marco and Guthrie on tour before they left to tour their Aristocrats (also fucking amazing) material. I'll include a link to The Watchmaker below, a must see if you've never been exposed to it. Thanks again for giving this music the audience it deserves. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoeXhKF8esRrg9Usi=42tawKXYy1yf5cNg

Love that you recognized Guthrie even before he went into his bag in the latter half of the solo. If you want more Wilson\Guthrie goodness, Home Invasion\Regret #9 has one of the best guitar (and keyboard) solo i've heard. PS Guthrie's bandmate on the Aristocrats, Marco Minnemann, is playing drums on the track, and that half time syncopation following Guthrie's lead line towards the end just puts the solo over the top imo

I look forward to hearing more of their work together! I love anything that Guthrie and Marco do together, I should have clocked that it was Marco as well!!!

@@BraindeadBreakdown yeah those fast rolls on the toms in the last measure is like a signature move of Marco's, gets my every time. Edit: though Steven Wilson's previous drummer was the GOAT Gavin Harrison so its no surprise he gets great work from his rhythm section

Hey BDB - if you want to go for the opposite extreme and then start to work from one end of the genius of Steven Wilson to the other - then try "Ancestral" or "Vermillion Core" or "Refuge" or "Song of I" all from Steven Wilsons live DVD Home Invasion recorded at The Royal Albert Hall in 2018. Anything you watch from Steven Wilson has to be LIVE! His music is unbelievable, but watching and listening to him and his band play LIVE is just unequalled!

I think it is fair to say that the majority of people from chat thought that he was wrong, I know I did. I think Chester would be proud of what Emily is doing.

It is so hard for me to understand all ya guys having hard time hearing Emily sing Chesters part. To me, for a long time, she sounds better. More diverse, more pretty, angry, not in pain. New energy. I hope they make studio versions of her version of old LP songs.
@BraindeadBreakdown2 күн бұрын
It is just a difference in opinion, nothing more. Her voice is obviously more to your tastes. I think the new album is great and I look forward to hearing more from an Emily fronted LP 😊
@smeagol802 күн бұрын
@@BraindeadBreakdown I suppose I come from "not so hard LP fan" club, Chester never really clicked for me although I really love LP sound, and I personally prefer female vocals, until now nightwish was my favorite band but Emily gets accepted by my brain in so many levels and add LP sound to that and it's a win win. Good things are coming.
@BraindeadBreakdown2 күн бұрын
Whereas for me, Chester is the main reason I started listening to heavier vocals at age 11. We all have a different story and different reasons for why we like the music we do. Music is subjective and that is why it is beautiful! Technically no one is wrong, it is just different taste 😊

@@BraindeadBreakdown ah ok I get it, that is what I've noticed among people hating on LP/Emily or being unsure. Those are then basically not LP fans, but Chester fans. So new LP for them, with Emily, is a hard nut to swallow, so some of such people will skip it. Totally understandable and ok. I've noticed that new LP actually has mostly new fans, people are kind of fed up with new boring bands and music and are stoked by old-school and even new sound from Zero album. I've also watched all 10 full live shows. On every one of them Mike asked crowd to raise hands those who are first time to see LP live, majority of people raised hands. It's a new era indeed. I wish all old fans to enjoy it too <3

Speaking of Ale and her doing the backups needed when they are needed - put an ear to Amour from the Pepsi Center. When Dany does that freaking long vocal tone at the end (it's 12 seconds or so), listen to Ale's harmony on that. Outstanding!

Most of the band performances on Kimmel are shot on a separate side stage not in front of the TV audience so the band audiences are different from the show. It's just edited in when the live TV show is broadcast.

Ale's The Warning's foundation. I love Rock and Jazz. First time hearing Ale, only 16, yet a world-class Jazz bassist playing Rock and the youngest Spector Signature Bassist ever. How? Ale plays with crystal clarity, perfect timing/pitch, absorbed the music of Jaco Pastorius, legendary Jazz Bassist, greatest Bassist of all time. Ale's amazing in "S!CK" yet listen to the cover of "You Oughta Know" and "Apologize". Ale rewrote Flea's "You Oughta Know" Bass-line, injecting Jazz. Ale plays it live like nothing; Flea couldn't get the timing right after a ton of studio takes. Dany has very difficult slide work in Apologize so Ale plays most of the Bass-line, Melody, and creates crazy percussion by plucking the B-string with such force I was sure she'd pull the string off. Ale fits in an incredibly beautiful Bass solo starting about half-way through the song, just as Dany is singing "And I don't meant to make you nervous..", and Ale also sings! It's Next-Level! Currently what Ale does while making is seem like she's not doing that much is done by great Jazz Bassists (absolute mastership and doing incredible difficult playing all while remaining super-chill as if it's actually nothing is very much a Jazz thing). TTBOMK few in Rock other than Ale do anything like what she does today, especially live. Go back to Chris Squire of Yes and find a Rock Bassist with the talent and desire to consistently pull this off. Squire was considered the most dominant/ talented Bassist of all English Progressive rock bands, known for his elaborately contoured melodic Bass lines and crystal clear sound. Ale is a primary reason The Warning has their amazing timing, incredible Wall of Sound, and that beautiful 80's vibe everyone loves; it's intrinsic to The Warning's music because much of the Rock of the 80's was imbued with the rhythms and melodies of Jazz, the Jazz-Fusion and Progressive movements, and it's Ale that's the master of those musical forms.

Sir, (I assume) you need to write a proper blog using your knowledge and writing ability. That was a superb post! There is a reason that these girls have the following that they do. Sure, it's partly to do with them being beautiful people (in every sense of the word), but there is so much more to it than that. There is musical ability here that we can barely fathom. It certainly isn't just luck that pretty much every single song they have created is excellent in some way. Nobody has ever said, "meh, that was rubbish" about any of their songs. Sure, many people won't like the genre, but that's just down to musical taste. What I'd love them to do now is take their time producing Album 5 and really stretch that musical ability and produce something to completely fry our brains. So, if you do ever consider doing a more lengthy prose, (you could probably write a biography!) let us know! 👍🤘👏

There were apparently a few people up front that were actually The Warning fans, the rest- who knows. But the fact that they were performing on national television makes a big difference as to how they felt getting a gig at an American late night talk show. There’s a TV audience out there that are now potentially new fans.😉

Nice reaction, and spot on about the “audience”. Ale is the metronome for the band. By Pau’s own admission she’s not the best timekeeper, at a live show often when Ale goes back and puts a foot up on the drum riser she’s dragging Pau back into time. And I believe LorneJamesB is right, the producer had messed around with the set up, especially Pau’s, and she hadn’t quite calmed down. As you say, she just sat at the back and did her job!!!
@Biomirth4 күн бұрын
Its funny because of the whole Warning crew (I'm thinking of the management and family) I think Pau is probably the one that most would want them to be on a Jimmy Giblets or shows like it. She has the most clarion ambition and take-no-prisoners attitude about success from what I've seen. I mean you have to contextualize that in that compared to 'the industry' she's a sweet humble genius. But of the three of them I think she'd most appreciate the need to jump through hoops to put something in the 401k or other fund for the future. She's said she would like to be in accounting and investing on a couple of occasions, if she couldn't just make it as a writer or IRL as a drummer/songwriter. Dany just knows she'll be fine whatever she does. Pau isn't that chill. God I love them to bits.
