Hi Mavis - do you have a link to NTNU‘s list of the 2400 most used Chinese characters in Taiwan? Thanks. R
@TaiwanMandarinMavis22 күн бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your question! It was a study they conducted on the numbers of Chinese characters known by students from the 1st to 9th grade in Taiwan but they did not include a list of commonly used characters or the surveys they used to test the students’ literacy in the published thesis. Sorry about that!
@ronshadbegian47721 күн бұрын
OK. Seems odd not to include their list of commonly used characters. Thanks anyway.

So, here "mei you" is like "am not" instead of "haven't been"?
@TaiwanMandarinMavis23 күн бұрын
Great question! “mei you” can be used to negate various expressions depending what follows. When used as “haven’t been”, I assume you’re talking about hai + mei you + verb, which means I have not done this action (whichever verb inserted), ie. 我還沒有吃飯 I haven’t eaten or 我沒有吃飯 I didn’t eat. Since here we use “mei you” with “zai” as a fixed expression “mei you + zai + verb,” this makes whatever action you’re describing present, and would be translated as “I’m not + action”. ie. 我沒有在吃飯 I’m not eating (right now). Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions :)

Thanks for the feedback! This video is more for the vocab of frequency and less on grammar. Since this channel is aimed for casual learning, the videos may have only phrases and words for beginners without the formal grammatical structure listed out. Apologies if I didn’t set the right expectation for this video and thanks so much for tuning in!

To all the Gen Z Taiwanese Kids, PLEASE LISTEN TO ME…🙏🙏🙏. You all should NEVER focus or dream of becoming a KZbinr/Content Creator. The so-called “job” will NEVER be what you expected, nor will it ever meet your expectations. Please Focus More On Working In The STEM Field, Medical Field, Military/Police/Firefighter Fields, because these types of jobs/work will ALWAYS BE MORE IMPORTANT to have and to do as well in the future. More importantly, having a job in the STEM Field, the Medical Field, the Military/Police/Firefighter Fields WILL ALWAYS HELP EVERYONE OUT IN TAIWAN AS WELL AS HELP THE COUNTRY ITSELF. These jobs WILL ALSO ALWAYS HELP PROTECT & DEFEND EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY AS WELL AS HELP PROTECT & DEFEND TAIWAN.

Thanks for the feedback! Do you suggest lowering the tripod so the lens is lower than the eye level? Or should it be at the eye level?
