HI is this one of the teaching methods for level 2, as this is very good compared to the learner trying to work it out themselves just from notes etc because a lot of the times you read or study but maybe dont fully understand what you are reading. Nice friendly tone also makes the learner feel comfortable very well done indeed.

0.00 Mohms is not a "short circuit". A short circuit is a fault of negligible impedance between live conductors. 0.00 Mohms on the display could simply mean 999kohms or less

I'm currently studying my Level 2 three nights a week through a local college, I work full time in an unrelated field, when would you suggest I start looking for relevant employment to gain practical experience? Would that be now? at the end of my level 2? or would I need to wait until I have also completed the level 3?

The only issue I have with any of the videos, and not just from you, of fault finding in a classroom is it’s in ideal conditions. What schools should do is to have part of the assessment in a closet packed with junk, all of the wires just randomly shoved in and having some asking them questions every five seconds. 😉

This is the sequence I prefer and what I was taught, however I’ve seen a few sparky’s recently saying the AM2 pre documents say you have to start on L1 to L2. So if I do this procedure (which I prefer) will that be acceptable on my AM2?
@XSTrainingLtd

Please ask the centre if you are ok to do safe isolation in a safe manner and start on E - N. If they state you must start on L1 to L2 then go with what they wish. To be honest, as long you cover all 10 tests it doesn’t matter which way you do it. The way I show it is just good practice.

Hi Kacey, thanks for the message. I have spoken to my colleagues and this can be done either externally and internally on site. However, the some AM2 centres prefer this to be done internally which I know is a bit fiddly. The only reason you would normally do it on the inside is to ensure the gland stays at the relative IP rating. Therefore, try do it internally. You wont fail if done as the video shows. Hope this helps.
