I made the same this weekend with a few mods...I didn't use the bottom of the can, I let the charcoal rest on the wire. I also only cut back half of the top of the can and pushed the loose flap into the tin and back underneath, this made everything much more sturdy. Thanks for the idea!

Awesome production, but , drill al your holed first, then break down the can. How did it work, how long before the charcoal was ready? Inquiring minds want to know? other than that, not bad.

Thanks for the comment. You're right, in hindsight it would have been much easier to drill the holes first. As far as how it works, it's great, have used it many times. The handle gets a bit too hot, so I have to wear gloves to pick it up, but otherwise no complaints. Charcoal is ready after about 10-15 minutes. The key is using enough paper underneath it to adequately light the first few chunks of charcoal. Also I've found it works best to set it on top of the grill and light it there. If you try to light it straight off the ground or concrete it just doesn't quite get enough air flow.

Sure, I used aluminum square tube for the support rails, PVC pipe for the rollers, and various wood pieces. Anything else?

Gotta love the Boom. Great Product! BUT,... why going thru the hassle building all that stuff, still looking un-professional, while there are Boomholders out there for only $30, and then at least look and be professional. Not really getting it, except that the builder is quite handy building stuff, good job! But get real, and buy professional stuff, don't safe on the wrong end! These are your tools to make your art, your work and ultimately your income too. ....THE BETTER YOUR TOOLS THE BETTER YOUR WORK AND THE PRODUCT YOU CREATE !!!

A thicker can would be better, but it has held up decently. Maybe an old gallon paint can would have been better.

@@justinhoot2489 To make it more clear. The hammering in the background is the reason. Two sounds overlaping - no go. I still watched your video, but muted ;).

Hi, unfortunately I don't have any specs or plans for it. I wish you the best of luck if you decide to build one for yourself.

Dang! I was hoping it would be something I could do. Pretty cool nonetheless. A bit noisy and the Dremel was like going to the dentist! Eeeeek.

Yeah, the bearings I used were the main cause of the noise. I got them from the discount bin at my local hardware store. A few months after I made the video I replaced the bearings with higher quality ones. It made a big difference. I encourage you to try and put something together, it doesn't have to be as complicated as mine 🤪.

Thanks! I appreciate that. Yes, more videos coming soon hopefully. For the strap it is just a braided nylon flat rope, I think normally used for supporting young trees.

Best DIY build i seen so far, very good quality result. Do you think there are any different bearings that are less noisy?
@justinhoot2489
@justinhoot2489 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. Yes, I ended up upgrading the bearings in this to some quieter ones. If you wanted to spend the money you can buy bearings designed for low-noise environments, and it would make it much quieter.
