It was lovely to have this recording on in the background as my husband read Percy Bysshe Shelley's "Ode to a Skylark" to me. Thank you. ❤

We’ve had a family of Robins in our garden this year. I was sitting in the garden just now and played this. They loved it!

One of my favorite memories of living in England years ago is waking up to this birds song on a rainy spring morning.

We had the dawn chorus as we left the chapel for my mum’s funeral yesterday. It was the one thing she loved the most 💕

I used to have a beautiful Blackbird each summer sit outside my bedroom window waking me up singing its head off at 4.am on the dot until 5.am, without fail! As it was summer, light warm mornings I would get up near 5.am to sit in the garden and feed Black beauty its seeds. Mum & Dad would bring their young (once five babies) into the garden and mouth feed them two feet away from us as they trusted us because we always put a huge dish of seeds out each morning and a bird bath of clean fresh water for them. This happened for at least 3 years and I loved it, but we moved and it broke my heart to leave my birds (we had six other species) and I cried knowing they would not understand why their food and water suddenly stopped. My neighbour started to feed them, she too had to move. 😢

When i was 16 i was skateboarding home from a friend's house during a really windy evening. I found a blackbird that had been presumably knocked out of its tree on the side of the road, it looked disorientated and couldn't fly. So i wraped it up in my jacket and took it home to my mum. She got a shoebox and we let the blackbird ride out the stormy night in our shed. When I woke up the next morning I went to check on him. He flew out of the shoebox and the shed and sat on my fence chirping at me before flying away. A few days later my mum told me there was a pair of blackbirds in the bottlebrush tree next to the shed making a nest. They hatched their eggs there that year and every year after i presume the same family of birds returns to that same tree and makes their nest every year. They dont even mind my cat. I'm 46 now and love the sound of their songs in spring. I'll never cut that tree down no matter how messy it gets. I always feel like I'm home when i hear their song.

It's the end of summer in New England USA. The song birds have mostly left and the crows have arrived. Ugh! I couldn't take the crows loud cacophony anymore, so while sitting on the front porch, I played this bird song track loudly on my laptop. The crows immediately flew away! Who knew??? And my mood lifted.
