@@camdenwyeth316 yes for instance tim overuses boomer bends in his improvs. They have good technical ability but sadly they won't last long if they can't play freely and improvise. People are not always willing to hear studio perfect pitch correct and highly technical playing.

@Tigermaster198611 ай бұрын
It's simple. 1. There is a huge difference between improvising and playing what you've already rehearsed. From what I've heard from Polyphia's music, it doesn't leave any room for improvisation. 2. They're technically competent, obviously, but they're not nearly as good as their studio releases suggest. Even their professional live recordings are so overproduced that we can't really hear what the audience at the shows heard, and fan recordings of their shows are usually somewhere between absolutely dreadful and kinda-sorta passable.
@PinoyIQ10 ай бұрын
technical skills yes Henson has, but here's the reality.. for sure when composing these guys have used A LOT of modern tools to help them write. Almost like AI tools to help them figure out those chord progressions etc. that are available these days.. so the creativity really I believe wasnt there.. the tools helped them to write those amazing music.. Check hermanli's channel when Henson was there to jam.. HE CANT improvise.

You can tell they don't just jam and free play very much. I don't doubt their ability to play guitar (as I've seen them live). But to be truly a great musician you need to learn to listen and go with the flow. Jamming isn't a technical thing but a feel you go with .

Exactly. He must know he’s better than them, but he will literally NEVER admit that. I tried with Polyphia, I really REALLY tried to understand it, but I just don’t. To me, it’s that kind of music that sounds cool but is otherwise just a bit emotionless. With Vai, he’s literally trained himself to play with emotion, and in comparison to Polyphia’s music, his is much more enjoyable. I’m not pitting these against each other, music isn’t about competition, this is just what I think.
