@@mohibquadri4053 it hurts to say this as a reading, information gathering introvert but I've found that building relationships accelerates our careers faster than reading books! I would create a career path and meet with people 1-3 steps ahead of you to learn their secrets and to get their advice and then start executing on it. Good Luck!

I find myself struggling to reach higher-level positions despite my extensive qualifications, including two master’s degrees and several certifications in IT and management from top institutions. While I consistently receive positive feedback on my technical expertise, I often hear that my soft skills need improvement or that I may not fully align with organizational policies. In a recent interview, I was asked, "What do we have for you?" which left me questioning my fit for senior roles. It’s disheartening, and I’m beginning to wonder if my strong technical focus is holding me back. Perhaps it’s because I’m deeply technical, while they might have been seeking someone more focused on relationship-building. I was genuinely eager to join that organization, but I realize I may not have conveyed my enthusiasm as clearly as I felt it. My passion tends to come through naturally when I’m explaining technical concepts or helping others understand something new, but I may have missed the opportunity to show how much I wanted to be part of their team. Having worked for over 15 years and managed teams, I’ve encountered nearly every scenario, but I wasn’t expecting the recent interview to focus solely on competencies. I was asked to create a technical presentation, yet they neither asked questions about it nor allowed me to finish it. I blame myself, not anyone else, for not securing the job, and I’m feeling a bit disheartened by my inability to find a new opportunity. I’m unsure of what to do next, whether to pursue another certification or watch more training videos. In one of my previous interviews, all four rounds were technical because the team was highly competitive, so I wasn’t prepared for the shift away from technical questions in this recent process. Trust me I practice the presentation at least 20 times but they did not ask me anything on it. except 2-3 question that too it was too early for me to answer as I just started the presentation. Also, the panel had no idea on IT and they were VP and Director of IT team I was shocked with their questions too? Watching it from Ireland!!

The easiest answer is to offer to help, it can also be asking others for help to create a reciprocal relationship, offering advice or thoughts after team meetings (in private). Need more?!
