I had a few days stopover in Istanbul on the way to Uganda and wanted to find something off the beaten paths. I did some research and came upon this place, which was about a 2-hour drive from Istanbul. So I rented a car and came here for 2 days.

This was great! I've been to the Rhine valley and St. Goar, but never hiked up into the hills, so I did not know there were suburban homes for real people. Also, thanks for the info about breaking up your flights to stop over in Europe. And that it doesn't cost more. I've been considering doing that from Korea to Ufa and then to Germany. So I feel more emboldened by your trip.

Good video. I stayed in Bacharach at the castle overlooking the town in 1988. Great memories. Excellent choice to visit or stay.

You should (based on the season you arrive) travel from Koblenz <> Mainz by boat. Be aware that there are no bridges along that part of the river, but ferries (schedules!).
