This reminds me of my grandmother making olive oil soap after the olive harvest, every year we got fresh Palestinian seasonal olive oil and soap and pickled olives it was the highlight of my winter seeing how it all made by hand❤️

Would crisco be an ok replacement for the oil?
@foodfaithfamilyАй бұрын
Great question! Crisco could work as a replacement, but it might slightly change the texture of the tortillas. If you don’t mind that, give it a try and let us know how they turn out! 😊

Some stor bought tortillas dont taste like real tortillas.....read the back of pkg......they are bio-engineered....theyve added extra chemicals into it
@foodfaithfamily2 ай бұрын
Exactly! It’s wild what you find when you read the back of the package. Bio-engineered ingredients and extra chemicals definitely take away from that authentic tortilla taste. That’s one of the main reasons we started making our own-so much fresher, simpler, and more real!

I’m gluten intolerant so I definitely miss tortillas but I’m going to try making them with gluten free flour.
@foodfaithfamily2 ай бұрын
That’s awesome! Gluten-free tortillas are totally doable, and homemade ones will taste so much better than store-bought options. Just make sure to use a good gluten-free flour blend that works well for rolling out dough. Let us know how they turn out-I’d love to hear about your experience!

What's the point of cooking if you use kitchen tools to kneed the dough in stead of putting in that elbow work.🤨🤨🤨
@foodfaithfamily2 ай бұрын
Great question! Honestly, we rolled out 24 tortillas by hand, so we’re not exactly skipping the elbow work here. 😅 But not everyone has the time to mix dough manually, and that’s why tools like KitchenAid exist-they make life easier without taking away the love we put into cooking. At the end of the day, it’s all about making good food that fits into your schedule!
@GuadalupeGuedea2 ай бұрын
I would use one. I've actually thought about buying one. I have carpal tunnel sometimes it is very painful to make my masa. I buy them with love from a Tortilleria instead. 😊❤

I could buy a LOT of tortillas for the price of that mixing machine
@foodfaithfamily2 ай бұрын
@@GuadalupeGuedea A KitchenAid would be a game-changer for you, especially with carpal tunnel-it’s one of my most used appliances and such a lifesaver for mixing dough! I totally get buying tortillas from a Tortilleria (nothing beats that flavor) but if you’re thinking about getting a KitchenAid, stay tuned-I’ll be doing a video about why I love it so much really soon!
@foodfaithfamily2 ай бұрын
@@99suspects True, you could buy a LOT of tortillas for the price of a KitchenAid, but you’d also be putting a lot of extra ingredients into your body that it probably can’t process. 😬 Those bio-engineered additives add up over time! A KitchenAid might seem like a splurge, but if you cook a lot, it pays for itself. It saves time, your hands, and your health-plus, it opens the door to making so many fresh, homemade staples beyond just tortillas. Definitely a long-term win!

Tortilladora or Tortilla Press
@foodfaithfamily2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! 😊 We actually used to have a tortilla press, but it made tortillas that were more 'snack-sized' than meal-sized. 😂 After a few too-small tacos, we gave up and just started rolling them out by hand to get them big enough for our plates. Sometimes, old-school wins the day!

Colgate Total is the only toothpaste in North America that contains triclosan.
@foodfaithfamily4 ай бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out! You're correct that Colgate Total is one of the few toothpastes in North America that still contains triclosan. However, even though its use has decreased, we still think it’s important to raise awareness about all potential harmful ingredients found in many everyday products. This video is about making a more natural choice for those who prefer to avoid any questionable chemicals. We appreciate your input and hope the information can help others make informed decisions about their oral care!

flouride has been proven to be completely safe and harmless and WILL benefit ur teeth's strength, same with all the chemicals mentioned here, just because it's made in a factory doesn't mean it's instantly bad
@foodfaithfamily6 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your perspective! I understand that fluoride and other chemicals are widely used. However, our decision to make our own toothpaste is based on research and personal preference for a more natural approach to oral care. While some people are comfortable with these ingredients, others prefer to avoid them due to concerns about potential side effects. We believe in empowering everyone to make informed choices that best suit their health needs. It’s great that you’re passionate about dental health, and we hope this video offers an alternative option for those looking to explore different approaches!

@@foodfaithfamily i understand where u're coming from, some people think companies these days cannot be trusted with what they're saying, and while imo making an all natural toothpaste to avoid those companies are unnecessary, u're not in the wrong here either, there's nothing wrong with being an all natural, what really matters is that u did what u think is best for your kids!
