Awesome! What thickness of rope did you use?
@westaussiewanderers8503Ай бұрын
We use 6mm telecom rope. It’s a yellow & blue stranded rope.
@denniswebb4116Ай бұрын
So, shot off to Bunnings because we had some downtime while travelling. Didn’t have a hacksaw so the Bunnings guy helped by cutting the pvc length in half. Bought an 8mm bit and used Grunt 6mm rope, blue and yellow multipurpose 160kg strength but they didn’t have the telco rope 550kg strength in stock. They only had 3 end caps in stock so will buy another at another Bunnings to finish off the look. Total cost $25 (excluding drill bit) Back to caravan and made it up in no time. In use today!

Hey mate do you think a 23 foot van would make it from east to west freaser towing with a 2500 chev
@westaussiewanderers85034 ай бұрын
Hey, We’d say probably not. It’s more a question of length rather than weight. A 23 foot van would almost certainly get hung up on some of the tighter corners on the inland tracks. If you’re heading across to Fraser and you have the time, do what we did and drive the inland track you are thinking of towing on first. Then you’ll be able to make that assessment for yourself based on the current track conditions. Thanks for the comment! Hope you enjoy your travels!

Wow that's not good service at all, I'd expect a temp replacement while they confirm the battery is stuffed. That's a fail for service to travellers

running the whole van on a single 120Ah battery?
@westaussiewanderers85035 ай бұрын
Yep. This capacity suits us great! No need for a crazy big battery system if you have a 3 way fridge running on gas whilst off grid. Fridge was always cold and battery barely dropped lower than 50% during normal usage.

You have to reset the BMS by putting voltage to it with another battery. Like jump starting. That will reset the BMS and allow you to recharge it. When the battery is fully discharged it will go into safe mode and you won't get any voltage readings off the terminals.
@westaussiewanderers85037 ай бұрын
Hey Sam, thanks for your comment. We did all you have suggested plus more without success. Our battery was actually faulty so the voltage was dropping in and out, even once fully charged.

So how long were you in Tassie for and did you feel that was enough time?
@westaussiewanderers85038 ай бұрын
We were in Tassie for just over 5 weeks. It was good amount of time, we definitely could have spent longer as there were things we missed but it was enough time for us to see most things.

Now that's a neat solution! I like it very much. I use Telstra rope as well, I just tie it onto the top arms. But this would be much easier and looks much better, too. I'm going to use this idea, thanks for sharing!

Hows the Hardkorr battery been going? Im looking at a new lithium battery and tossing up between brands.
@westaussiewanderers85038 ай бұрын
The Hardkorr Battery hasn’t missed a beat for us. It’s done everything we have needed it to. It’s also been great to have the ability to connect straight to the battery via the Bluetooth app to see the state of charge, a feature that was missing from our previous battery. 😁

Unfortunately I've had a few problems with Itechworld devices. And now a new problem with my 1300w power station. I know things go wrong but now have to send it back to Perth. They say 2 or 3 weeks to get it back. They have no service centres anywhere to help. I'm in Sydney. But I have the 300w power station as well have had no problems with. It's very handy

Sadly, it’s not actually a polish. It’s more like Windex. Swirl remover from Autobarn or Supercheap does a much better job.

Hi Guys How long in advance did you have to book the boat spot?
@westaussiewanderers85038 ай бұрын
Hey, we booked it about 8 months before we left but then two weeks before we were due to leave we were able to change our dates and bring them forward as we were ready earlier. We just kept an eye on the website as people cancel last minute all the time. Hope this helps 😊

Thank you so much for sharing. Last year I had a double b swerve onto my side of the road. I moved over into the dirt but was trapped in between an embankment and the truck. He hit the mirror on the car and I thought at the time, missed the van. However that night when we got to our camp, I noticed that the clearance lights and 2 windows had scrapes on them from the truck. The lights I just replaced but I've been wondering what to do about the windows. I'm going to give this a go.
@rossharvey14968 ай бұрын
That product was a good find. I once had a bad one all across one window and I polished it off with toothpaste. It took longer to get it looking good but it worked a treat if you can’t get to Bunnings for the proper spray.
