I think eventually AI made in the US or China will be so cheap and competitive, maybe even free to use for governments to make civil services very very cheap and efficient. Not to mention the knowledge and innovation, it can boost quality of life so much for most african people. Not just, but in every part of the world, just the most change in Africa.

Most AI tech already in civilian use is proprietary so unless this changes African AI billionaires will be even fewer than they are now. Also even in the West it is not guaranteed that AI will be a net positive for society. It is too early to celebrate.

The challenge with Africa AI, is the lack of capital for R&D, we do not need to compete with the west but we still need capital to develop AI models, test it, etc.... There is no R&D capital in Africa, investors that invest in Africa are looking for profitability and we all know when it comes to new tech, it takes time to get there.
