It has to be in the first second. The old jujitsu variation recognises that in reality you won't really be able to strike the groin, so your right hand goes behind their heel pushes it up as your left hand pulls back. Vital to practise a left handed attack as well.
@Pupenhausen2 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't you be able to strike the groin? It's literally the easiest place to strike from a side headlock with the free leading hand! The hardest part of this technique is being able to tilt the head back without the attacker turning their head away, but then you're already out of the headlock and can continue with combatives. Must have trained this technique thousands of times over the last 10 years, many times under stress, full power with protection, 50% of the time the attacker turns their head under stress testing. Another variation is when you're pulled too deep into the headlock to use any arms. Itay Gil has a good technique for this situation.

Once The headlock is tight this wont work. You have to apply this technique before its tight
@Pupenhausen2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's the point of the technique. Common drills before this technique are to stand with your eyes shut and when you feel the slightest touch to the back of your neck, tilt the neck, bend forward, moving slightly backwards as you push the attacker away. This technique is the next step if your attacker is too quick for you to avoid the previous reaction.

Is punching to the head a bad idea? My limited experience indicates that breaking a finger or thumb is of high risk.

Most anybody feels pain when receiving a slap to the groin. Try it on yourself and see.
@TWN3212 жыл бұрын
It will still work. Your arm, back, and legs have tremendous leverage against a guy's neck. If you can't peel his head back from this position .. pray.
@TWN3212 жыл бұрын
This is actually a pretty common technique across multiple martial arts apparently. I learned basically the exact same technique in my Kenpo training.

Excellent video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you considered - Chireetler Dread Free Rule (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind guide for learning self effective defence moves without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got great success with it.

It's amazing how MMA has influenced all martial arts. Krav Maga was never put together with a ground game. Now it has. MMA is as real as it gets.
