Imagine this: Same idea as Subnautica, you crash land on an alien planet, life pod is deployed, but this time, there’s no buoyancy to lift the life-pod to the surface. That said, you continue to sink deeper and deeper into the pitch black depths of the ocean, where all you can do is watch in horror as the light oozes away from the hatch of the life pod. Upon your entrance to the midnight zone of this new ocean, the distant roars and cries of unknown creatures shake your soul to the core. Slowly after the sounds have died away, and following you’re continued descent for many minutes, you finally come into contact with the ground; I think what would make this moment truly horrifying would be complete solitude, whilst being stripped of all of the senses you rely on, pitch black, and utter silence. Upon exiting the life pod, an emergency flare would illuminate your surroundings. Just imagine how scary that would be?! And imagine how amazing seeing sunlight would feel for the first time upon finally swimming up from the depths? What’re your thoughts on this idea? Anything to expand on? Is anything flawed with my idea?
