The biggest thing this man teaches bassists is humility. Something damn near most bass players need. Any typical bass player, if they were to reach his caliber would be super stuck up and all about themselves. Yet tue bass shredding god Big, Bad, Billy Sheehan is smooth and nice about it. Let's all learn something here. Ain't so much about your playing...your attitude speaks more.

His hand gestures are unnecessary and distracting. Very informercial-like.

He's indeed just a good hardworking guy. Always nice when I saw him at meet-n-greets at shows.

A good example of pedaling in a song is what Bob Daisley plays in "Crazy Train" during the verse.

Been playing bass for over 20 years and Billy has been one of my all time favorite bass players. I still have his original training video :) so cool and such gentlemen.

How is this different than spider walks? What are the chord changes? Major 7ths going up by major 3rds?

Very nice interview. You can tell that Tony was pleased that you had actually listened to the album and read the liner notes and so on beforehand.

One thing no one talks about is Tony's vibrato. I would love to hear him talk about the subtle nuances of his playing. The slides and vibratos, the little fills he does. There's always something slightly alien about it. He's showy in a stealthy way. There's always a sense of menace to it that has given so many songs their teeth.

I heard a guy play an octave root (I think) as an eighth note burp. You could play that octave against any of the notes in the walk on that particular chord.

I don't know man? Maybe for a beginner this is a difficult bass line? I never even actually sat down & "Learned" it. It's one of those songs you've heard it so many times, if you've been playing for a while, you have a good idea of what's being played. I think this bass line is also a great exercise for practicing.

20:55 I'm unsurprised but disappointed to learn that the Mercyful Fate album is still not completely written. Apparently, King Diamond and Mercyful Fate did absolutely nothing in 2023.

Love to this. Surprised there was no mention of Sadowsky NYC (I have five). The only base we have in common is the status, B2, and whistle with the Roman numerals on it. What Fodera’s do you have? Anyway, really enjoyed it.
