Growing up, my family owned a marina on a lake in Kentucky. This was 30 years ago before we had video access at our fingertips, but if we had, I'd have ENDLESS footage of some of the most ridiculously impressive happenings at our boat ramp. I have some great stories though.

We had a similar experience in our 21ft bay boat, with 4 people on board. We put in early at CB state park boat ramp, headed south to bald head island and it was peaceful and calm the whole trip. Had a great time, then when it came time to head home, we turned north at battery island and it was game-on from there, all the way back. Basically had to "surf" the rollers the entire way back, with white knuckles on the steering and throttle. I felt like if I went any faster, I'd spear the next wave in front of us - and if I went any slower, the engine would be swamped... I want to go back some time, but will definitely keep a closer eye on the weather forecast! I have heard some folks say that you can stay closer to the shore and avoid the rollers in a shallower drafting boat, but there's all kinds of trash and obstacles lurking in that river...

Just a comment, First time seeing a video of yours and right away I noticed the child on the boat with no life jacket just a diaper ? Totally shocked however I just want to remind anyone with children any age particularly children who are able to walk and any age is important just want to say the child in your video with just a diaper on and walking on boats most times are not sturdy and less then a sec a accident could happen, Adult was near but wasn't looking at child.No disrespect to anyone just a reminder to put that life jacket on before getting into boat is best. That would never happen at the lakes by us. You put your boat in, take it away from the dock until the driver comes down. In and out of the ramp or you’re fined by rangers.
