Did not know there are so many varieties of tinned fish a mere ferry ride away. Shall have to go hunting.

Uwajimaya Japanese food store in Seattle and Portland might have interesting canned fish but I haven't looked for it there yet but I hear in Japan they even have Tinned Fish bars with many tasty varieties to sample and nobody does fish like the Japanese. Lovely shows you make here!

i will totally join you on the hate train. every crockpot recipe i’ve made has been 10x better in a dutch oven, especially if there’s meat in it. i reserve my mini crockpot for buffalo chicken dip and a couple other hot dips i make when i take it to parties, but i still make them first and THEN use my mini crock as a warmer

Okay I kinda know what you're talking about and the only comparable thing I can think of was once mentioned a Lebanese friend and it's called zankha Zankha is the unpleasant leftover odor from meat and especially eggs. Lebanese people complain that dishes in America often smell of it. There's also warmed-over flavor which I can't find a direct link to zankha but also might be interrelated. If I had to guess what you're detecting and these are related. Either proteins or lipids are getting overly broken down. Also on point chili is the only thing I think comes out better in the slow cooker

Do not heat parm too long or it will crisp like in the video. Instead top it at the end and heat it for the last minutes of cooking
