I really enjoy the aplication of "rule of cool" here, allowing merle to use summon plannar ally to get his friends from the ethereal plane

The emotional response this sequence and the music and how everyone is truly bonding- I legit am brought to tears

You missed an opportunity to have taako draped in a red robe when he went spectral

One of my favorite things about this scene is how the three instantly, almost simultaneously say "word of mouth." TAZ relies entirely on word of mouth advertising, so of course these 4 in particular know just how powerful it can be. That one instant really reveals the effect the audience has had on the McElroys and it's touching.

Fuck yall, I know its been five years, but this still gets to me. Taako making himself completely vulnerable in front of two litches is one thing, but Merle. Thats not how that spell works. But he never bothered to learn how his spells worked. Instead, he just has faith that, when he needs it, he will have the right spell. So he cast a spell, and he believes that it will work, that it will save his friends, and the world bends to the weight of his faith. Magic *changes* because this one man believes hard enough. We make fun of him, but This is being a cleric. In the time his faith should be weakening as his magic does, he holds firm. God I love Merle

Might be minor, but I always get hit by the "eh-hem.. I didn't say that." of Travis, clearly confused as to why Griffin is talking for his character, something he has NEVER done before. Only to find out why, seconds later.

i like this scene a lot because Pan's power was already gone so the only thing powering Merle's spell was the bonds/love that the three had for each other 🥺

Merle's move of casting Planar Ally, regardless of how the spell is supposed to work, and how Griffin just rolls with it is some straight up season 1 Yu-Gi-Oh bullshit, and I am totally here for it.

can I just say that this moment is great not cus it was just bloody epic but because it is the perfect embodyment of the rule of cool. like the meta gaming that happened didn't matter because it was so awesome and like that's not how planar ally works but it doesn't bloody matter because this moment is just so good like as a forever DM myself I think i'd let this shit pass aswell it's just so good

My first listen i had no idea how much "rule of cool" and changing of plans went into this moment. I legit thought this was the solution to a puzzle or something, like Griffin had seen them pull spells and rolls out of nowhere so much that he created an impossible scenario to make them get creative. Finding out this was never intended was a MAJOR recontextualizing moment for me, and an extremely hype one at that!
