I never had any problems with quality of Fuji (had X-E1, X-E3, X-T4, X-T20, X-S20, some of them just shortly)... But they seem to be obsessed with their film simulations (now having a dedicated dial on some of the models, this is so stupid!) which is a thing I am not that interested about. They are significantly lacking weather sealing of some of their mid-range but still rather expensive models (X-S20!). And they are lacking in computational photography, Olympus probably being in the lead here (handheld high-res mode is amazing!). Overall I prefer Sony or Olympus more than Fuji in recent years. I never tried Canon or Nikon, so I can't compare these.

I have a 100-400 Fujifilm lens which takes great images, but it has a little bit of play when attached to the X-H2S, The DP Review forums had other people mention it, some people said it wasn't a big deal but that's ridiculous. I've had Nikon, Canon, Lumix and Olympus zooms in this range and all of them were tight with proper coupling. I'm really hoping they get their act together, right now their cameras and software is crap.

I had the same issue with a Sony 50mm f1.2 lens and their US warranty servicer stinks too. Lucky for me Best Buy’s warranty just paid me a refund of my total purchase price and I started over. I try to buy at Best Buy for that reason. I went to Nikon because Sony refused to update the firmware in any expedient way - and I can use my Sony glass on Nikon with the Megadap adapter.

I was shooting with the Nikon D600 when I was living in Cyprus, (many moons ago) and it suffered the 'oil issues' that were well documented after release. They did replace my camera but obviously knew there was an issue as immediately released a D610 remedying the issue. I think they should have replaced everyones D600 after realising issues but i sold and went Fuji XT1. I have 'upgraded' over the years with newer Fuji iterations but recently returned to the T1 and lucky enough to find a mint X70. Prefer the older sensor output after looking through 10 years of jpegs. Did try Lumix GX9, (great AF but couldn't get colours i liked), & similar story after trying Sony rx100 va and iii.

I always liked it when Fuji was the edgy outsider - the 'indie' alternative to Nikon/Canon/Sony - mainstream doesn't suit them. I understand the frustrations, but you couldn't pay me to go back to Canon (who I was with until six years ago) and Nikon and Sony seem to me like brands for photographers more obsessed with the technical minutiae than the end results.
@_brushie26 күн бұрын
Do Nikon bodies have a tally setting for showing when it's recording? First thing I turned on for my XH2 before the red border update came out. Otherwise I'd be checking the body every five minutes if I switched to Nikon. lol

@jessejayphotography yes - to be more precise: a sync stabilization issue between the ois and the ibis, so not necessarily in the ibis mechanism itself. Also the screw thing sucks, opening and servicing a modern electronic appliance always involves risk of human error but fujifilm definately should have higher standards in this regard for their red badge glass.

This is not an isolated case, ive heard stories too and i experienced it myself, the after sales support and the hardware quality is really bellow the pro level equipment. I'm still a fujifilm user, though I will not purchase any brandnew equipment from them, 3rd party and the 2ndhand market is the best place to go with(at least it already tested)

I have never had good luck with any camera manufacturer with respect to repairs. Digital cameras should be considered disposable devices in my opinion. Maybe Leica is better when it comes to customer care and camera service.

Wow! @ Jesse J. a truly terrible experience. It can be the most frustrating thing when a company treats its customers with such disregard. I am just an amateur, and I always think that a lens should be for life.I have seen soooo many videos of people who have had lenses for decades. and still they work fine. I only started to get into film photography a few years back (during the pestilence), and so far I have only bought Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses in the Nikon f-mount. Now I am saving up to get a Nikon D850. Yes, It is an old DSLR by now, but I am just an amateur trying to learn. The new stuff is uninteresting to me, and I would "flip" if I went out and the gear failed. Plus how "crushed" I would feel if one of the companies treated me this way. Since I started, I bought myself the Hasselblad 903cx film camera, and some Zeiss CF lenses to go along with this 6x6 film camera system (4 lenses so far). I've been slowly and tepidly wanting to get into the digital system, but want something really solid and reliable, so to this end, I have been trying a few Voigtlander lenses on a Nikon Zf. And my recent visit to Tōkyō bought a few Zeiss Otus lenses. I am hoping they don't break or go faulty, as I have thrown myself into this hobby and don't want to lose too much here. But back to service from the companies, even with Hasselbald and the new owners, I've read photographers complained that they closed service centres and they are struggling to get good service. It seems ~Jesse, that after sales support from everyone is getting worse and (depending on your luck), you may get good or bad service.

When I was a kid I photographed a lot. Of course with film because we had no digital cameras back then. I used Kodak film because I liked its colours more than the Agfa film we also had available. Then at one day I saw a film from Fujifilm in its green box. Wanting to try it out I bought it. Put it in my camera (a Praktica IV from Eastern Germany that I got from my uncle) and shot my photos. But when I arrived at the end of the film roll the film ripped. As that never had happened to me with Kodak films I sent the film back to Fuji, told them what happened and expected them to replace it. They sent it back with a 'nice' letter, telling me I must have made an error and that they therefore would not replace it. Basically they told me to GFM. As this film was the very first item I bought from Fuji it left a deep impression on the kid that I was, that had only very little money to spend and that was brushed off so harshly. In short: I never bought anything from them again. I even didn't consider their cameras several decades later when I wanted to buy a 'big' camera for wildlife photography which might be a bit over the top. But seeing your experience with them I tend to think that the philosophy in that company simply hasn't changed.

From Singapore.. very sad u had such a bad service experience. I personally had 2 bad service experiences from Fujifilm Singapore. 1 for X-T1 & the other for FX 50-140mm lens. Their commitments to both warranties were truly disappointing. When others ask me about Fuji, I said their system is alright but when is faulty, pray hard their service center can deliver in time. Yes, Fujifilm still has a long way to go to match what Canon is. Going to venture into videoing with X-T5 slowly. I cut down on their lenses & investing into 3rd parties. This is my 4th system, is ok for my work. There's no perfect system anyway.

I had a few camera lock-ups that required a battery pull with the X-H2S. Others have shared their stories in the comments. I also had lockups with other cameras like Canon R5. Stuff happens. So it's a hard question to answer. Generally, Sony, Nikon, Canon get higher markers for reliability and service.

I hope Fujifilm sees this but there are a lot of people jumping ship. After a defective anti-glare coating issues on the EVF on the X-T5, their absolutely terrible AF issues (it's not intuitive), i've decided to no longer invest in Fujifilm. Kudos to their beautiful color science but with Adobe Lightroom, you can achieve this look with any camera.

@@jessejayphotography what I meant is that I would not probably write off Fuji (or something) based on bad experience with warranty repair ... and I am saying that as a Nikon guy who owns also fuji camera (and has a semi-painful and expensive experience with Fuji repair service) and honestly, doesn't like it compared to Nikon .. if you already have a z8 however then the choice is obvious .... z8 is certainly fantastic camera (at least spoken of Nikon ergonomics) .. I've bought myself recently second D850 body and I am just determined to stick with DSLRs ... Looking through OVF is for me a pure essence of photography ... EVF feels to me like smartphone on stereoids .. I have z6ii and 24-200 for a travel and I am thinking of to sell it almost from the day one ... from Fuji I have x100 and x100f - both needed a warranty repair Vs my Nikon cameras (and I had almost all FX DSLRs except of Dn) who never ever broke (I was repairing some lenses) ... Have a good light ... cheers from Germany

I heard of Fujifilm QC taking a dip but I didn’t think it was THAT bad. I wanted a small, fun Fuji to compliment my Nikon Z8. I mean to be fair though… it does seem like a lot of manufacturers are having crappier QC these days. The Z8 had the bad strap lugs when it first came out but Nikon took care of it. I hope you have better luck with your Z8. I still want a Fujifilm someday but thanks to your video I think I’ll hold off… maybe give the ZF a chance.

@astromoosie, I have the ZF with a few Voigtlander SLii-S lenses and they are great to use. I work long and hard during the week, but on weekends I take them everywhere with me. The SLii-S lenses in Nikon f-mount are small and light(ish) so i can carry a few with the ZF. You should definitely give it a try!
