Update: So a couple days ago, I reached out to Ford to see if they could provide more specifics than Summit was able to. They echoed what Summit said, the Gen3 shortage is due to a part unavailability (they wouldn't tell me which part). So essentially they can't build them until that part becomes available again. They do plan to have a limited number available eventually, but at the time of this post, they don't have a timetable. The Gen 4 is out now, and there is typically a gradual transition when a previous generation is sunset. That transition window could be shortened this time around if it takes a while for that line to get back up. As for the FFR folks, there are people talking about Gen 4's in their 65 Coupe or Roadster, but I haven't seen anyone try it yet. It looks like fitting the dual throttle bodies/intakes will be the biggest challenge. 5/31: Thank you to @Lesterman_1 for the update. Looks like Ford anticipated issues with the dual throttle body and is releasing the Gen 4X, part number M-6007-M50H in the summer of 2024. I just saw the spec sheet and you will trade some HP/Torque running the single throttle body: Gen 4 - 480HP @ 7,150 RPM / 415 Torque @ 4,900 RPM Gen 4X - 460 HP @ 7,000 RPM / 420 Torque @ 4,600 RPM The Gen 4X will require a unique controller pack, the manual control pack part number is M-6017-M50HM. Manual power module part number is M-9000-PMCM4X.

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come off so vague, but they aren't sharing a lot. I just pinned an update, but basically Ford can't build the Gen3 because they can't get a hold of one of the parts to build them. They didn't share with me which part, but they did say they plan to have a limited number released eventually, but could not provide a timetable on when. I've seen ZERO reporting on this situation, so hopefully more people talking about it will help get some answers.

Looks good! FYI, you want to torque the nut, not the bolt. Doing it the way you did in the video on the control arm gives less than accurate torque reading.
@Walton_Racing
@Walton_Racing 14 күн бұрын
Thanks, good catch, but in this case since the bolt head and nut face have the same diameter and the contact surfaces are the same, giving the same coefficient of friction, would it matter?
@wrenchrat
@wrenchrat 14 күн бұрын
@@Walton_Racing Its the resistance inside the shaft area of the bolt (where it goes thru the bushing) that will affect the torque readings, despite the head size itself being the same. Every once in a while this is unavoidable on certain vehicles, due to difficult access points, but putting the torque wrench on the bolt head and not the nut can result in torque readings being artificially higher than what they actually are. Basically, you can under-torque the fastener.

Hi. Really enjoying your videos; you folks do very nice, clean, professional work. When you show modifications, would you please add a little extra detail about why you are performing a particular modification? For example, why did you cut the fuel intake tube before connecting it to the fuel tank? Thank you. Looking forward to more videos soon!
@Walton_Racing
@Walton_Racing 14 күн бұрын
Thanks Randall! I had some voiceover explaining that mod but I forgot to include it, so I’ll explain it here. The stock filler tube isn’t long enough/shaped right to get from the filler cap to the tank, so you combine the 2 pieces we cut with a rubber filler tube (which also has to be modified) and you hose clamp them all together. We’ll make sure to show that when its time to assemble.

Great question. The Ford rear hubs come with metric studs (14mm x 1.50) and the front hubs from Factory Five come with SAE studs (1/2-20). Technically we could have left them on, but that would mean we would need a different set of lug nuts for the fronts and rears and that would be a pain to remember.

Next finish the touch up around the engine, like coolant, filling the AC, already did the power steering, need to recheck the hydraulic clutch (must have air in the lines) Then I am about to start setting the body, and body work will begin, also interior... This could already be the best car-build video I have seen. For me it's not so much about the car, I know it well ( I met the late John Olson here in Aotearoa New Zealand ). My best buddy was apprenticed to him at Casino Motors, donkey's years ago. ( Sadly, he also has passed ). As well as my trade ( Composite engineer ), I am also certified in Film and Television ( odd bedfellows, I know !). As such I feel I can comment on this video, which is superb. Great camera work and sound recording, images are clear ( how important is lighting ?) and demonstrative, altogether an excellent production. Best wishes for the build, I'll be with you all the way !! BTW, look on U-tube for the story of John and Pete Brock developing the original cars, there may also be something about John building ( if my memory serves me correctly ), the only Shelby certified continuation example, completed after John's death by his son( whose first name escapes me now. Also, FYI, John went to Europe with the late Bob Wallace, who was instrumental in the development of early Lamborghini's, in particular, the Miura, the ORIGINAL supercar. Not bad for a couple of Kiwi kids !! Think also, Bruce McLaren, Burt Munro, Jon Britten, C.W.F Hamilton ( inventor of the marine jet propulsion unit). And Nascar fans, look out for SVG, first driver in 60 years to win a Nascar race on debut ( Chicago,) For sure there will be other examples of Kiwi's doing great things internationally. Oh yeah, Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber, Le Mans winners !! Go, somebody stop me !!

Al, thanks for the love from NZ! Believe it or not, we're pretty green when it comes to film production, so we are learning the ropes on lighting/rigs/sound/filters etc. People don't believe we filmed these first three videos with an iPhone15 Pro, which just goes to show the huge advances in smart phone tech. We're playing around with some new gear, including a Sony FX30 we just built, so we're hoping to bring improvements to future videos as we learn and grow these skills. We really appreciate the kind words, especially from you industry folks! We're familiar with Jim Price's Superformance, who own licenses for the Cobra, Daytona, and GT40. They build beautiful cars for sure, but we really wanted to be able to say we built a car from "scratch", so a Turn Key Minus (TKM) wasn't an option for us. Cheers to all the Kiwis in motorsport! Chris started getting into F1 when Hartley was driving with Toro Rosso.
