im 41 this year.. and i've started running this year too.. doing base building now for 7 weeks already.. despite a fairly tight schedule of working 8 - 5 and a father of 2 kids, i try my best to run 30mins a day.. the goal is to able to run sub 30mins 5km by year end

@edu1113 that's fantastic. Good luck. Let me know how you are doing.

Thank you for the motivating video! I’ve returned to running at 48 and I don’t get a lot of positive feedback from people as if I’m risking it. It has been feeling so good to get out there. Signed up for my first 5k!

@beckettridge awesome! I'm 51 in October, and I really do feel much better than in my 30's. I make sure that I warm up and stretch properly before the time, and I don't force my body, I just run comfortably. I really enjoy it. Good luck with your 5k. Did you see my other video, where I share my view kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGjPlXmDmMycb9k

I ran for 2 years starting at age 21, and got up to 5 miles every other day at one point. This ended once I went to trade school. 15 years later I’m getting back into running. The problem is that on my last run I overworked myself and injured my knee from running farther than ever. Because of the severity, I will likely have to stop running for a month before the pain and irritation subsides. I recommend to everyone reading that is new to running to prioritize pre and post-run stretching, leg exercises to strengthen the legs and prevent injury, research proper running form, and also hydration. Thanks for reading.
@thinkholistic1015 ай бұрын
@totesmagotes3688 you are absolutely correct. One has to properly prepare for a run and do the research before the time. I'm sorry to hear about your injury and hope that you will have a speedy recovery and be back to running at the right time. Take care of yourself.

@@thinkholistic101 Yes, it will be more difficult for me because I work a construction job. Looking into self-rehabbing, and if that doesn’t help, I’ll have to set up a consult with a physiotherapist.

For some who couldn't run 1 km to complete a 21km run at 7.5kph average speed just few weeks after...it sounds unbelievable, let alone at age 45. There's a missing piece of data here.
@thinkholistic1015 ай бұрын
Hi @mbarlev, what do you think is the missing piece of data?
@mbarlev5 ай бұрын
Probably some form of aerobic training other than running or extremely active lifestyle which envolved alot of walking and time on your feet. most people new to running struggle with the impact to their joints and not just their cardiovascular fitness.
@thinkholistic1015 ай бұрын
No aerobics or.gym or anything. Like I said, I didn't practice any sport or exercise at the time. I did have a physical job and spent most of my time on my feet during the day. Thanks for pointing that out.

Half marathon in 2:48 is basically brisk walking, 8 minute per kilometer, you do not need to train much to do this, so what she says sounds right. I am 48 and have been running for 30 years.

Great story I really enjoyed listening to it. I started running at 49 years old and could barely walk 5km! I run 50km a week now at 51 and do a half marathon distance every Sunday.
