That's one active little skunk you have. Loved the opossum and skunk interation, not what I was expecting. I bet the opossum doesn't smell too good!

I was surprised. It was right outside my bedroom window and I was outside just two hours later, not a whiff of skunk so he didn't spray during the confrontation.

Love your love for nature and your sharing it. Heads up-- I only learned recently through fresh water fish care that many amphibians and fish have mucusy slime coats over their skin. This protects from infection and for at least some salamanders aids in respiration through their skin. A surgical powder-free latex or nitrile glove might be advisable. God bless!
@Woodsman99110 күн бұрын
@@alpyhaWQFwef thank you. He was behind the rotted wood I was removing. I only had him in my hand for under a minute and was careful not to wipe or clean him off so he was kept moist. I put him in a safe damp place less than three feet away and he took off under some wood immediately. They are endangered here so I had to move him to keep him safe

What a lovely selection of wild animals. My favourite is the opossum, the US's only marsupial. I have a soft spot for marsupials cos I'm Australian 🇦🇺

Thank you, I am happy you enjoy the videos. I love the possum. Still waiting to see one with babies. I am in Ontario Canada and they only started to appear here about 10 years ago. I am surprised they make it through the winter snows.

What is in the container that the Woodpecker is eating? I have to figure out something different for mine. That suet cage is being attacked by the sparrows and even the Robins...not to mention the chipmunk's and squirrels. That looks like it only allows the Woodpeckers to reap the rewards.
@Woodsman991Ай бұрын
Its a black oil/peanut feeder from Perky Pets. I can't get them anymore in Canada but they are still available in the US. It is 100% metal. No plastic as plastic gets picked apart. Been using two for over 10 years now. On a garden pole with a metal squirrel baffle around the pole. I used it for years with Black Oil and this year put shelled peanuts from the farm supply store in one. Woodpeckers (Red Headed, Downy, Hairy, Red Bellied) all come as do the Nuthatch. It will last at least a day with black oil in it and longer with Peanuts.

The woodpecker is beautiful. I get the red headed one, as well as the red bellied ones (black and white stripes). I am also guilty of putting a few blueberries and dried cranberries out for them...which they love.

What kind of camera setups do you use both for day and night?
@Woodsman9912 ай бұрын
The cams around the yard (with the date and time in the top right) are a mix of basic power over ethernet (POE) or WiFi Reolink security cameras with video captured by Blue Iris software on a computer. Wired Cams are powered by a POE switch that provides power and ethernet data paths. I turn off the built in IR and use external IR illuminators at night, that way the cams do not pick up the bugs and spiders on the lenses. The videos of the chipmunk, squirrels and mouse are a Campark T70 trail camera, and the videos of the Fox and raccoons at the field station with the black bar and lettering on the bottom of the clips is currently a Meidase P60 Trail Camera. All Cameras are basic inexpensive brands and auto switch from day to night IR.

Glad you liked the videos. I had to put a new security cam in and moved it to a different point for a different angle on the yard which is reflected in the critter video of July 2. The previous one filled with water after a driving rain. Second camera that has done that. I have also lost a trail camera to ants that destroyed the insides after getting in through the power port. And another where the screen went bad for no reason. All reasons I buy cheaper equipment. If they break no huge loss.

I just loved this clip, so cute. Thanks, the peonies were coming on but we had torrential rains yesterday and I think that damaged them. Even being tied up the weight of the heads with the downpour was just too great for many of them. The poppies are now done for the year, but they were beautiful. We are beyond gardening now so Perennial Poppies, Peonies and Bleeding Hearts is about all we get now.
