Is there a reason why the stream was cut off at the end? Also the volume levels of the choir were causing distortion. I don't understand why once set up, the organ level needs to be altered at all. 😞

Lovely music. Lovely start to the day. 😃 I see you have a new Director of Music. The choir and organ sound well to me. Oh! As I write this, I find that the wonderfully played Bach 538 at the end is chopped through! 😮 😭

Thank you! We'll pass your kind words on to the music department. Thank you for flagging the issue with the voluntary being cut short, we are not sure why this happened but working to ensure it does not happen again. We always value the talent and hard work of all of the music department.

A service full of glorious music as has been typical at St Albans throughout these years. Due to the sheer distance I have only managed to actually be in attendance once -but immediately felt the wonderful warmth of spirit in the cathedral. It is indeed a 'family' church of which Andrew has been a core part.

It is an honor to watch online the manifestos of English political parties. Not all cathedrals are open to receive political arguments by the crowd because of the controversial stigma towards holding accountable politicians prior elections. It’s a privilege to see how the crowd has not felt intimidated to ask questions and to receive answers about their concerns about education, how to challenge the cost of living crisis, immigration, and housing. I am personally amazed by the gentleman Simon Grover that supports the Green Party: a party that seeks to rejoin the European Union, does not support privatization of the NHS, and is open to explore what are the voices that the crowd wants to hear in parliament. Daisy cooper is one of my favorites: I have been touched by her angelical political statements about supporting vulnerable children with school meals, her solutions of housing if overcrowding is a mitigating factor and, I believe she has been the only one who has highlighted that Hartford has the worst rating for its special educational need. Dafydd Morris: the heritage party that supports measures to prevent illegal immigration, and has spoken about the international conflicts that have left thousands of people without a place of land where to live. I would continue with John Merry Dowdle, Sophia Adams Bhatti, the representative of the Conservative Party and the social party, however I look to avoid any overextended text. Generally, all I can see from here is a team, that has been wise enough to offer an immediate response to the hard work and wisdom of its constituents. I am sure many people appreciate to have the opportunity to speak directly with politicians since not many know when it is the right moment to raise a given concern or to send gratitude for their efforts when recognised. The wisdom shared every Sunday has leaded me to reach conclusive conclusions in life, at work, with my family and in education. Many international leaders such as leaders of the Dominican Republic and Spain have a great deal of wisdom to learn, far away from discussions that entail differences between Green belt and brown landed housing. Keep transparency united!

I really wanted to get into performing arts college. But once I’d achieved my dream, attending a prestigious college from which one of the Spice Girls had graduated a year earlier, I found myself feeling quite lost and alone in a world I was suddenly unsure I really wanted to belong to. I wandered into a pretty church near my digs, looking for a blessing - I don’t think I could have received a greater one than meeting Father Jeffrey. Even though he is an erudite theologian, Fr Jeffrey’s sermons were always so relatable and accessible thanks to his humility, honesty and sense of humour. I felt that he not only possessed great knowledge, but also deep experience of what he was preaching, which made his words ring true and inspire faith in me. So I am delighted to happen upon this sermon nearly 30 years on from my college days! Fr Jeffrey says he can give us words and arguments with regard to God being the love from which all other loves flow, but he can’t GIVE us experience of that. However, I felt that the love from which Fr Jeffrey’s words flowed did bless me deeply, and I will always be grateful for this. So thanks Fr Jeffrey for helping me to find what I really, really wanted - God bless you 🙏💕

To the Revd Will Gibbs: having heard your marvelous speech, I would like to wish that young congregations could take a moment to listen to your call about spreading sympathy to reform contemporary businesses and economic cultures that unfortunately, have faced in long terms the financial consequences of Covid-19 with inefficient and fatal financial practices. As you mentioned, this is the correct way the poor and the vulnerable are properly cared for. This way gambling, undeserved gain, and undeserved bonuses are not corruptivly placed over the financial conduct authority in times where financial digitalization is imminent.

The Streaming Team generally do a good job but there was no sound for the first 7 minutes. I have noticed in this and some previous live streams that there is a lot of compression causing distortion and the volume to be 'squashed'. I dont know as a viewer whether that is the equipment being used or Google's own compression, but if the latter is the case, it is because the feed to google is too loud. It is such a shame as it spoils the outcome of what is otherwise extremely good. I follow the live streams from Ripon Cathedral and they seem to have mastered the volume levels, microphones etc, their streams are not distorted, yet you can hear everything... and no reverb is cut short. As the organ is the loudest sound in the Cathedral, the maximum volume should be set so that at full organ volume, the stream doesn't overload, then everything else should be adjusted accordingly. Compression/Auto volume is best avoided. I mean all this in the best possible taste 🙂

The masque’s are off putting. The Cathedral is magnificent. The Shrine is very nice, but is there anything in it? If it was trashed hundreds of years ago, how were the bones found? I suppose I should read about it. That was very thoughtful and courageous thing to do. Harrowing times sure aren’t for the faint hearted. If would seem we will be doing another replay of these ancient times sooner than later the rate things are going in the UK and Europe. At least Viktor Orban got the memo.

FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN SOLVING A MYSTERY ABOUT 2 CARVED HEADS INSIDE STALBANS CATHEDRAL. There are many things that go unnoticed by visitors, but ive found something that nobody else seems to have noticed, let alone know anything about them , including churchmen, or the different tour guides I've asked for information All say the same thing, "I've never noticed them before" They say they'll try to find information from someone who might have seen them. But its always a negative. So for anyone who likes a mystery, there are two stone heads one in each corner to the right and left of the entrance to the shrine, both have damage, brutally hacked just above the lower jaw , only the upper jaw and head remain ,one has its nose hacked off , they are tucked away in the corners between 6/7 foot high and attached horizontally, as if lying facing towards the onlooker.. Both have strange hairstyles, ive never seen on other medieval carvings , they appear to be males , both seem to have moustaches close to the upper lip . If destroyed during the reformation or by later puritan vandalism, who and why would anyone bother to re attach them , in a corner where nobody notices them , and lying horizontally instead of upright. Its becoming an obsession to find out information, but nobody knows they are there until i point them out , nobody knows anything about them or has any idea about the era the carvings could be from or the strange hairstyles they have. Not even the citys keeper of archaeology who works at the museum. The only person who might know , that i havn't had a chance to ask is mr Martin Biddle , who has been in charge of any work or excavations to do with the abbey church as far back as i can remember, the mid 1980s onwards. Possibly retired by now... I would love someone to find out any information about them.

I live the opposite side of holywell hill from the abbey . I've been involved in evacuations on the north east corner and the South East of the abbey plus the garden of the bishops residence across the road from the west end of the abbey . Before work could begin on the extension. I've lost count of the times I've walked around the inside and outside of abbey, yet I nearly always notice something i havnt seen before . Or find out , read , or hear something new , not really surprising considering the age and changes over the 1000 years its been there . Today listening to this video I found out something I hadn't heard before , that Cromwell tried to blow up the tower . It's amazing the building isn't another one of many ruins around our country. I know the reasons but I will never understand why Christians, who beleive in the same God in Jesus , have done so much damage to this and other buildings , smashing the windows, carvings of saints, or trying to blow up a building dedicated to the same God . For imo reasons so ridiculous So selfish, I find it hard to believe those people truly care about God , the shrine the windows the carved images are popish so let's smash them to bits . A building dedicated to the first martyr to die for god in Britain, "its to extravagant " let's blow it to bits " The abbey was more than just a church , as a whole it was the equivalent of today's NHS and benefits for the poor . They took in and looked after the sick , they have bread and soup to the poor , the old , the lonely. They gavea few silver coins at certain times of the year.. Then on the whim of a king who selfishly made himself head of his own church Not for the benefit of the people But to divorce and remarry a woman he had beheaded a few years later. The people lost their NHS The care , the soup and bread The coins ... When I think about the selfish reasons , the destruction. I shake my head and have no words . I feel a higher being cares and has kept the building standing For a reason. The tower stood because Cromwellsmen failed . When you look at the destruction to castles such as corfe, cromwells men knew how to destroy the strongest of buildings Yet they failed in destroying our abbey tower. Thank the Lord and his mercy And not the whims of selfish men . It stands strong and I'm sure it will for another 1000 years . ...

The Roman Church was to blame. It was steeling the poor and charging money to visit the Shrine. The Roman church to this is purely a money making organization. It’s going woke now because the Church is scraping the bottom of the barrel for funds”. lol. The Cof E is doing the same, but far more benevolently, and with a great responsibility toward Stewardship. Rome didn’t then or now belong in Britain. Why? Because it is Not loyal to the Crown and Sovereign. The town should maintain the Cathedral, after all, didn’t the town build it? Yes, there were traveling Master Masons, even from France and elsewhere, but the town builded a firm foundation first. England did two great things in its history. It through out the Rome Church, and it left the EU. These two entities are related. They both are frivolous organization’s when out of their depths, and both have nothing to do with the peculiarities of an Island-mass of land. Britain is a small Continuant. It was unique long before it was an Empire of Nations. Rome of then and now, and the EU are only interested in One Thing, MONEY. That’s it. They are both Takers. Now that said, the Cathedrals were constructed by the R.C. Churchmen of the surrounding towns, and that was all very nice, but all they were just pretty money gatherer’s to send back money to Rome to eventually construct that hideous monstrosity (as Augustus Welbey Northmore Pugin called it), instead of plowing that money into England. Rome was a thief as too is the EU…….and you’re still not fully out of it, and poor poor Ireland and what they’re going through right now. It’s a disgrace. So be glad you’re defending this magnificent structure. Imagine if the EU were involved. “Ok, we’ll pay all bills, but you’ve gotta get ride of all the Cross’s and references to religion. Don’t let the enemy in EVER! I bet you, if you composed an absolutely beautiful letter to the future President Trump, with a Trump crest and lovely polychroming using real gold and ground colors, and really beautiful photographs (not pic’s) you’d receive a nice reply. Call me old fashioned, but stroking peoples little ego’s does work………after all, doesn’t God stroke ours from time to time? This advice also to many wealthy people who would surely take an interest. How about that dame who wrote all those Harry Potter books? She’s loaded. Stroke her ego. Invite her for Tea (not coffee), you’d be surprised how much fun and fulfilling this work can be. You’re supposed to be saving souls, so get to work. The money there for the taking. Britains problems would all be solved if you would just start up the baby mills again. Think of it. The NWO would hate you. Don’t follow the EU, or Rome, or that Fourth Reich called the WEF. BE AND LIVE RESOLUTELY BRITISH. I’m an American Citizen and I know with which I speak. All these three entities want is your money so to control you and own you. Very Sincerely, David Bell of Princess Anne, Maryland. We were England once. Go to Google Earth and observe the lay of the land and the shape of all the farms. It’s very very similar to England.

I love the abbey church, i live across the road on sopwell lane, everytime I walk around the inside and outside of the building i notice something different. As an archaeologist ive worked on the north east corner and the south east corner of the abbey, ive also worked ( excavated) part of the bishops residence across the road from the eastern side. But inside theres one ( well two) things i noticed a few years ago and still havn't discovered what era , who they represent. Standing with your back to albans shrine facing the lady chapel , either side of the iron gates attached to the stone pillars tucked away about a metre from the floor are two strange carved heads , painted and facing down towards the floor . Ive asked a couple of different tour guides and a few priests, vicars and others who work for the church, for information about them , none have ever noticed them before i pointed them out let alone have any knowledge about them . Hopefully someone from the ( locals refer to it as the abbey) cathedral will read this and tell me about them . Its not exactly the most gracious of places / positions to be set . I've tried guessing, are they survivors of the destruction of the reformation? Could they even be from the old Roman city across the river, possibly early Romano/ Christian, we know of mosaics that have religious symbols and possibly images of christ. But why not keep them locked away in the vaults , rather than fix them opposite the shrine facing the floor , as if in shame ... I have some photos but no video footage, i should pop across the road and video them . I love winter when leaves fall off trees i can see the tower perfectly clear . Not many people realise the central tower is made from Roman tile , recycled from the old Roman city verulamium.

An unexpected but amazing discovery, Christians don't often get buried with any personal items, but two lead seals ( papal bulls) , found in one grave helped identify the man as John of wheathampstead,Abbott mid 15th century. Well done CAT
