Compare the inverted yield curve 2007 to today... Then u realize what's coming. The sequel for big short will be epic.

The Irons character is actually doing a superb job as boss, when you think about it. He's almost immediately grasped the scale, which was unprecedented, of the situation and taken incredibly decisive and necessary actions. And he's generally maintained his calm and good humour while doing so. Most Wall St bosses were in denial at this point or shortly after or couldn't contemplate the necessary actions. It'd be nice to work for a boss that calm, correct, and decisive.

The CEO of the company is so cavalier he gives the impression that he’s listening to information for the first time when in fact , the music stopped as soon as he was called and briefed before he entered into the meeting room , giving him the advantage for leading everyone to the foregone conclusion.

Such an underated and great Finance movie. Has some of the most epic scenes ever. I wish there were more Finance movies like this because this is as close as you get to the real world.

This scene perfectly explains what margin is. I own a few thousand shares of CAVA on margin. More than a few times when the stock has gone down, it's exceeded the limits of how much that was loabed to me on margin. Luckily for me, by the end of the trading day, the stock has rebounded back within those limits. So I've avoided a call.

A person working in real estate here, we're into mid 2020's and the world still hasn't recovered from the greed a few people had back in 2000's. I don't think we ever will.

This movie is absolutely terrible and I couldn't get into it one bit. _Margin Call_ is a beautiful and engaging masterpiece, not to mention the audience could understand what was going on. Whereas this was fart-sniffing, disjointed nonsense that didn't explain anything properly and was too complicated for the average viewer. The celebrity cameos, random rock music and fourth wall breaking quite frankly added jack sheet.

If Jared Vennett (Greg Lippmann) made this same presentation to all the other big banks, why did they all tell him to take a hike? It's easy now, sure. But why didn't anyone else listen?

You know this isnt a normal bank, it’s an investment bank that doesn’t deal in loans but had, like everyone else, faith in the system. They weren’t just selling the risky mortgages they were buying them as well. They discovered the value before anyone else what options did they really have?

As an engineer, there's that moment when you finish the math and you realize just how big you need to build something for the forces involved or the power load you need and the scope of the customer's demand hits you. I recognize that look on Peter's face as he stops his math and turns off his music. The enormity of what's coming is world-shattering in a way no one should see in their lifetime.
