Does the SLO 100 compare to the Wizard Hell Razor? Which do you prefer?
@wizardsouthJP6 күн бұрын
HellRazor is way more aggressive and a different beast - the SLO is more 80's hard rock, it can get meaner with a boost but nowhere near the HellRazor.

Hello, I already have an MC2 el34 100w. I want to know which one of the w800, rockstandard, and vintage classic I should buy as my second wizard. I also have an mzero and I want to get early EVH and more glam metal sound. My goal is to try to be as different as possible from MC2. Please give me your advice. What do these wizards sound like differently? Which amp does RS sound close to? My English is not good, please forgive me.
@wizardsouthJPАй бұрын
@@jerrywu1829 based on your explanation (your English is just fine) I’d go with either the Rock Standard or Vintage Classic. You can boost either one for more glam/hair metal tones but you’ll need something a bit more aggressive for the VC. The Rock Standard will be the more versatile of the bunch as there’s a lot of tone shaping on the front controls. I’d also recommend going with 50w 6L6 if you want it to be drastically different than the EL34 MCII. Hope that helps - thanks. I have a couple clips of my 40w Rock Standard on my channel as well.

I just got an Uber Ultra K88 to replace a faulty SLO 100 and I’m not liking it as much as I thought I would. The SLO was a bit too vintage sounding and loose for the modern metal and rock I play, whereas I think the Uber isn’t as articulate as I like. How do you think the Uber compares to an MZero Overdrive or a Wizard MTL? They’re the main 2 amps I’m looking at right now, as I think they may strike the balance between clarity and feel, and modern aggression that I’m looking for.
@wizardsouthJP2 ай бұрын
@@Trails_Ales_and_Sigma_Males surprisingly I can dial in the Uber to get semi close to the MTL with good saturation and clarity. The MZero Overdrive is pretty close to the SLO to my ears. I would suggest if the KT88 Ultra isn’t clear to either swap some preamp tubes or try a variety of EQ settings or try different speakers. I’m happy with how the Uber reacts to different guitars and different pickups - it’s also pretty dynamic for having so much gain. Rolling back on the guitar volume can be a cool sound as well. Hopefully that helps - if you need some EQ settings to try I can look at mine - both channel 1 & 2 I have sounding great into a Wizard 4x12 with V30/Creamback H75 but the amp also liked a cab I have with all Greenbacks.

@@plec15 The Wizards cabs are great, very thick birch ply. They’re expensive no doubt, there’s also Fryette, Bogner, Friedman cabs which are great too. Depends on the type of sound/feel you’re after.
