It doesn't take long to feel the curves smoothly. But I think you should warm up the engine longer like a minute or 2. I like your courage. :)

I still remember my first ever race in ICC, now KZ, I jumped up from 100cc racing into the ICC and everyone said I was mad and needed to do a lot of time practising in the ICC, but I finished 2nd in my first ever race, then many other good results after that, actually I did better in ICC than 100cc, it kind of suited my driving style

Never tried a 2 stroke kart but many dirt bikes. I can imagine it's very easy to spin on the power band given the hit of power! Cold tyres can't help! That's gotta be scary with all the other karts around you!

That cart has to be intimidating, and to spin it a couple times only adds to it im sure. Only 1 way to get better though. Keep at it!

Yeah, that’s tough man. I don’t know how cold it was out there, but the shifter carts are like a light switch. I got beat up pretty bad when I went out on the track with mine but it’s really short twisty corners which makes it really hard with the shifter cart.

These things are such beasts. I almost have my shifter back together. I only got to run it a few times before it seized up and now I’m rebuilding it. I think your problems in the beginning may have been from taking it too easy to feel the kart out and not getting heat in the tires. In my first few sessions if I had issues it was in the first lap or two. After that I was golden.

I'm going to make my shifter kart run aswell someday, hoping ill get it going this autumn. It's a 1995 Swiss Hutless with front and rear brakes and it has a 1986 CR125 in it. (Definitely not low on power despite the year) Last time it was run hard was when I was 11-12years old in 1999 which sounds kind of wild cause I remember it so well. I couldnt reach the pedals so I had a pillow behind my back. I even got to try a YZ250 shifter kart with full fairings at the same age and man.. That thing was beyond nuts. I weighed something like 40kg and was about 157cm tall 😂 That thing almost did wheelies out of corners into the backstraight..

@@eamh2002 I bet the 250 was overwhelming. I’ve been on dirt bikes and quads my whole life and when people said 125 shifters were fast as hell I didn’t think they could be. A 125 dirtbike felt sluggish and boring to me. Man was I wrong. I had been racing autocross for a while and generally top ten’d the overall and usually placed in my class in the regionals. Despite that the kart was still complete sensory overload lol. I can’t wait to get back on it it was exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll def have to put some seat time in to be able to squeeze the lap times out of it. I’m just waiting on my new rad and fuel pump to come in and she’ll be back in action.

@@elemento1991 Haha yeah I had a loose helmet cause I was a kid and we didnt have my size so the whole thing lifted up on the straights with jaw piece on my eye level so couldnt even see anything :D If you accidentally spun the kart it would keep on running and do a burnout on 3rd gear, just spun it back around and keep going without stalling. I bet I would be as scared to drive it now as back then. I can confirm a 1000cc sportsbike isnt as fun or out of control feeling as a shifter kart. Mine needs a connecting rod and top end bearing and maybe some TLC btw. Just tight on my budget with house stuff and bills.

@@eamh2002 Same here that’s just the adult life lol. I got mine used and unfortunately it seized up on me my third time at the track with it. I didn’t want to just rebuild the top end and risk the crank having been knocked out of balance so it just sat. I finally got some money set aside and got the motor rebuilt after 3-4 years. I had a 600 street bike for a while and I agree the shifter is a way wilder ride. It’s the cornering forces for me. I was hitting 1.6G on some old practice tires. I have a fresh set of Hoosiers to swap on once it’s broke in. People say they get up close to 2.5.
