Thank you. Magnificent. When I got married in a reproduction of a 12 century Scottish church I had the great Sylvia Woods play this on her Irish harp as our recessional, echoing in that small stone church was spiritual.

Sixteen Years have passed and I still haven't heard a better version of this piece on a guitar or harp. This could have been done since then on a better guitar and recorded with a better device, but it hasn't.

There was a TAB available for some years, but recently the online company that was selling it as digital goods decided to start charging me extravagant fees and far beyond what I was making from the TABs. I haven't found another suitable platform yet, so I'm afraid I had to pull it offline. Helen

This arrangement is gorgeous. I've loved this song since I was a kid but something about the way this is played transcends the original. I've been trying to learn this for a while by watching the video. Are there are tabs or sheet music? I THINK this is C-G-D-G-B-D tuning but not completely sure and some of the finger positions are a little hard to decipher from the video.

I bought the tan for this arrangement years ago and it’s still my favourite thing to (try to) play, I’ve always wondered how you get the harmonic on 6th at the start though? Is it some classical guitar witchcraft that I can’t do with steel strings?

Hello, thank you for the kind words. Hope to help if I can. No, not nylon string witchcraft :) just artificial harmonics. There'll be plenty of places on the web, including KZbin videos, explaining the technique better than I can do here. Basically I am placing my index finger of the picking hand very lightly over what would be the 12th fret of the 1st string (I believe this is what you meant when you said 6th string). This is the '12th' fret in relation to the fretted hand being on the 7th fret of that string (relative with the capo at 1st). Because the frets have run out at this point it looks odd, so you have to imagine where 12 frets up from the 7th fret will be. Then with index finger I am lightly making contact with the string, while simultaneously using my ring finger on the same hand to pick out the note. I hope this makes some sense. Helen
