Thank you for sharing your knowledge! This came at a perfect time, I received a cutting board as a gift and I feel now I know how to maintain it! 😊

That's a nice gift. If you need more information on odor removal and such, or the studies they did with bacteria, check out the links in the description. We normally clean promptly, air dry, and keep them well oiled, and that's enough for us, but I know that sometimes in more humid environments, odors linger a bit more.

what about a bbq grill
@commonsensehome2 ай бұрын
What about it? You can certainly use a gas grill or charcoal grill for cooking outside when the power is out, but they are not suitable for indoor use. Also, if the weather is bad (storms, floods, bitter cold) outdoor cooking is difficult.

I got something after pulling out tree roots from a garden plot to plant in. It was nothing in that family you're talking abut though. There was a chemical spill that descended in a plume over my state around that time so it was probably from that getting into my soil. My rash looked different from yours. It was alot of little tiny bumps clustered close together and my whole face swelled up and was bright red. It continued to spread to my arms and hands too. Sun did seem to make it worse though. I had to go to the ER. After IV steroids and a 1 week oral pack of them it's alot better but certain areas still itch.

As long as your peaches aren't terribly overripe and very soft, it should work. If they are extremely soft, things will get messy, but they are still good for jam.

@commonsensehome5 ай бұрын
Oh my goodness. That sounds awful. Honey is another option to help bring down the swelling of blisters and wounds, as it is hygroscopic. It's also acidic, and helps prevent infection. It may help aid healing with the large area you have affected.

How many syringes did you do at one time? And how many ml or ccs in the syringe? Trying to figure out the most I should take out in a sitting
@commonsensehome6 ай бұрын
We used a 60 ml syringe and filled it fairly full twice the first time we did a draw. I explain in more detail on the website - commonsensehome.com/ascites-in-ducks/ If the fluid changes color, or becomes difficult to draw, stop. The liquid should be clear with a yellow tint. As we took the first draw, Emerald visibly relaxed as the pressure was reduced in her abdomen. The fluid came out very quickly. The second time, we filled one syringe, but only part of a second, because Duncan started to feel resistance to the fluid draw.

Wouldn't these antennas draw lightening also during a thunderstorm like we get here during the summer months?
@commonsensehome8 ай бұрын
Unless you build a particularly large antenna, or are on a high spot that normally attracts lightening, it should not be an issue. Typically, there's something higher in the area that will be more likely to draw a strike.

@kattwoman58 ай бұрын
how often do you apply it?
@commonsensehome8 ай бұрын
If you want to address specific nutrient issues, you'd need to get the soil and the extract tested. As a rule of thumb, it's fine to use it when you need to water, or weekly when plants seem to need extra support (like after transplanting, during blossom set, or if there are any pest issues, etc.). When applied as directed, it is very dilute and won't harm the plants, even if you apply it more frequently.

Thanks so much for your detailed explanation! I have dried eggshells, but they are powdered already. I will leave more head space because of the reactivity. I also assume I can use a kombucha vinegar as well?
@commonsensehome8 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Any sort of vinegar with mother introduces not only the acidity to break down the eggshells, but another range of bacteria to boost biodiversity. Those that are suited to garden conditions will do their thing, filling spots in the ecosystem to crowd out pathogens. Those that are not well suited will die off and feed everything else.

I have added crushed eggshells to my garden for many years. Is it bad to add them directly to the garden soil?
@commonsensehome8 ай бұрын
No, it's no problem to add them directly to the soil. They'll just take a whole for the soil organisms to break them down and make the calcium available to the plants. Using this method, the calcium is more bioavailable, and can be used as a foliar feed or a soil booster. Crushed eggshells left on the soil surface can also help deter slugs, if they are a problem in your garden.
