Hey. It's me again. Just got a quick question. I'm going for para in summer 22, and I was wondering what got you past pre para? At the moment, I can do just under 25 pushups (but can achieve 25 soon) and more than 50 curl-ups. I haven't been able to measure the running yet, and I can do 8 Pull-ups. What do you think?

You should be able to do at least 14 Chin-ups (Reverse hand pullups). Probably 60 situps and minimum of 30 pushups to survive pre para but your cardio ability is the most important

I'm late seeing this. All you Army Cadets out there heed this motivation speech. This is THE course you should all be aiming for. The crowning achievement of your time in cadets. The only official CAF qual that will go with you if you join up. But it's not easy. It's no joke. It is the same course that soldiers go on taught by the same instructors. There will be times when you question why you are there. Remember this video. "How bad do you want it?"... Indeed.

These guys jumping makes me cry with tears of joy and pride because I was that young kid once upon a time. I still jump on my reunions no matter where I landed or how I landed and get a good laugh from my very close Paratrooper buddies. As long as I land and not get hurt but they get a good laugh. I made my friends happy. In combat you may not land in the right spot. Landing in the right spot can sometimes get you to the enemy and kill you. Any good landing where you land safe and be ready to fight is a blessing and fight. You may still hear shooting because you are still alive. When you longer don't hear it. You are dead! Landing safely and going to the fight is everything even if you get hurt. You made that effort. Being dead is you are finished. life is very precious my friends. Being an Airborne Infantryman as an assigned position as a Paratrooper has a dual purpose in your job. In peace time training you risk your life in a training jump which injury or death will come upon you. In combat either you make a jump or not as an Airborne Infantryman, death or injury will come upon you equal. Bottom line is being a Paratrooper is a very hazardous undertaking. Being a volunteer is grand and glorifying even to the point of being injured or killed. Your unit and your friends will remember how glorious you were and will be remembered forever by those few. Quitting on active duty on jump status is unforgivable. No Paratrooper no matter of rank to see any Paratrooper of what rank he is will be ostracized when they refuse to jump no matter how fucked it it is. I did one not seeing where I was going to jump into. Paratroopers do this. Jump out and make the best of it. Nearly got injured from it but my job is still hazardous. Bottom line is don't become a Paratrooper. It's dangerous and very hazardous to anyone. Don't do it! Don't be stupid! It is dangerous after I have done 30 jumps and a few. If you don't believe me just watch Moatengators on You Tube for Reddevilparatrooper for 2019 Reunion. Don't believe these or this crazy asshole that jumping out of airplanes is soul cleansing and good for you even you are an old ass Paratrooper.

I think the first time I watched this video was just over a year ago today and it has inspired me to realize what it is I'm working towards in my corps. I never really thought I'd be the kind of person to want to go para, but I've suddenly gained this unwavering feeling of wanting to get my basic parachute qualifications. I'm only 14, turning 15 in December and I can clear Silver Fitness for my fitness evaluations, but for anyone who previously trained for a year or more on the course, do you have any tips? I really want this and I want my best shot at getting it done. What I know so far is that you want as many Pushups, Chin ups, and Shortest running time you can possibly get for your best chance at getting past pre-para, but is there anything else course graduates can recommend? With this whole Covid-19 thing I've had a hard time finding places to work out in my house and haven't done any sort of work out in at least a couple of days. I figured out on a project for school that I can still make 25 push ups in a minute which is better than I figured but is that a good starting point for para training? Assuming we hit the best case scenario and this thing clears up in enough time to give me a year or a little more, Is 25 Pushups, 62 Shuttle run laps, and ~3-5 chin ups a good starting point for everything? Thanks.
@charlesmassicotte99984 жыл бұрын
Esprit de Corps train harder. for the push up do 3 sets of how many you can do and do that for chin up too and for the run do it the fastest you can. Push harder every time you train

This was the video that made me want to try and complete the course. Before that night I was just a bandie who was probably just going to make it to Pipe Major and Master Warrant in my cadet career. Fast forward to two years later I was a cadet Chief Warrant Officer that held two gold level status pipe major awards in competitions and CF Basic Parachutist Qualified. I will forever thank this video that enlightened me to push myself to limits I didn't believe I could achieve. Eric Thomas' speech: "How Bad Do You Want It?" was and is a life-changing video. Tips is well if you want to do Para and you a new cadet or in for 2 years if you want to do Para you should do fitness things like going to the gym and don't stop ever in your life for an entire year I thought I could do it but when I got fit I felt the power in me so believe in yourself but when you do go be prepared for depression, failure I haven't experienced it but I know it happens to people there so don't stop fighting.

@celsojriscool8 жыл бұрын
You're going to want to work harder and want it more than anyone else. Make sure your fitness is above average. Make sure you look after your mates because after all, this is a brotherhood. Maintain a calm but sharp attitude. Understand that you will get your butt kicked on this course and that you will need the mental fortitude to proceed with this course. Lastly, know that this course isn't for everyone. But if it is for you, it'll be an experience that you'll remember forever. The course is much more than just jumping out of planes. Anyone can jump out of a plane. You don't just end up with wings, you end up with new-found brothers that you'll continue to talk to for a lifetime, you end up with new-found knowledge and experiences to share with your cadets, friends, and family, and you end up crushing fears and pushing past your limit. Just make sure you don't make it your life. There are bigger things to strive for that are cooler than a pair of wings. If you do make it your life, make sure you're in a jump company. There's a facebook group that's dedicated to helping and answering cadets who want to take the canadian forces parachutist course: facebook.com/groups/334158210249771/ They may have answers to questions you may have, I'm even on there. Good luck to you!

This course is definitely a course that will push you beyond your limits. The only thing that they care about is teamwork and never giving up, you think you can't do it anymore but you actually can, you just need to push yourself to succeed. Always be positive, if you really want it you need to work hard to get it. It takes a lot to get past that course but it's worth it. Hope you get in brother, good luck. 🇨🇦

Well for starters i have not done this course but it is my life dream so I researched the heck out of it. This course takes longer than just the 6 weeks or however long it is pretty sure it's 6, it is a couple years in advance getting your physical fitness up and you mental toughness i guess is what you call it. I'm sure you won't want to get up there and be to scared to jump
