I'm coming late to this, but thanks for that video. You (and others) might be interested in the report that was written as part of the archaeological investigations that were performed before the current drive-throughs were built. archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archiveDS/archiveDownload?t=arch-817-1/dissemination/pdf/cotswold2-167119_1.pdf There's the following about the airfield: "In the 1930s part of Caxton Common immediately to the south of the site was used by the Cambridge University Gliding Club as an airfield (HER 02470). During World War II this was taken over by the RAF and used as a training airfield. It was attacked by the Luftwaffe on several occasions and a number of Tiger Moth trainers were shot down or destroyed on the ground. Remains of the airfield defences can still be seen around its perimeter. After the war the airfield was returned to the glider club. " I find it fascinating that no significant archeological traces were found, at a site where one of the busiest Roman roads in Britain intersected with AIUI another (minor) Roman road.

@andrewwardmedia Thank you for your respond, Andy! I'm a great traveler and explorer, but at the moment I'm afraid of traveling abroad as I'm Russian and do not like our temporary situation here. My nationality may provoke aggressive and abusive behavior towards me... Then my only trip to Egypt was a complete disaster even though I was with my ex there... Seems like in the East people respect men more than women. Anyway, I'm staying at home at the moment.. with a great hope for the changes for the better in the world 🌍🕊🕊🕊 Good luck to your channel and you personally! 🥳🥳🥳 Your videos widen my horizon, I really appreciate them 👍😊

It’s a disgrace that the council have allowed a fantastic building to remain derelict for 20 years. It should have been the heart of the town, posh hotel, bistro overlooking the river, art gallery, etc. Nope the council planted LONDON PLANE trees on the market square - totally inappropriate to plant massive trees there and yet they put tree preservation orders on other peoples trees! Then they took away the car parking on the market square so the elderly can no longer get to the bank and guess what Lloyds, NatWest, Halifax, have closed, Barclays are going. Edinburgh Woollen Mill, M&Co, Beales, Brittain’s, have all closed to name just a few of the businesses lost. If you can’t park you cannot buy. Don’t they get that? Parking is free in Ely and it’s thriving. They built thousands of houses so clearly get massive amounts more council tax and yet it’s just deteriorating. Wake up HDC!

Why was formed from a small village to a tuberculosis colony, then as a major heart hospital, its many factories, its people, how it changed over the years and why. A brief mention of the now defunct hospital and why it moved to Cambridge. No mention of people and population. Absolutely dire.

Interestingly, Cambourne roads where originally designed as 30kph, but obviously we measure in mph so all the speed signs displayed the nearest mph. Original speed posted was 19mph. It later changed to 30mph, and that now has been reassigned to 20mph. That's 3 speed changes during it's existence 😮

Friends of mine owned and farmed the fields where Camborne is built on. They sold the land to another big farmer because of death duties. 2 yrs later Camborne was built. Where the belfry stands used to be another friend of mine living in static homes in the wood. It was idilic until the was brought out with no choice in staying. We know the place as crambourne as it’s all so packed in.

Such a shame that Dennis let it go. He knows it's listed and if it gets to a state beyond repair, they'll knock it down and build houses. Which is what he wants. Such a shame they can't restore it to be a bit like Jordan's Mill with a cafe/pub and shops, maybe an art gallery too.
