Yes, they were there then. The restaurant was on the corner at the bottom of Chicken Street, next to Aziz Supermarket and across from the Pakistan Embassy.

Yes that was it! We visited the restaurant twice in the two weeks we were in Kabul. Since I was living in Lahore Pakistan at the time , we were told where to locate the Pakistani Embassy and found the restaurant. From your comment I was trying to figure out if I maybe dated the tape incorrectly, but then I realized that the date on the tape was correct, but the snap was taken in March 1984, lol

I was going to say no, but than I realized my grandparents came from Odessa Russia (now Ukraine), so in I guess you can say I'm Russian, though my parents, and I, were born in usa, . I lived in Afghanistan and Peshawar, Pakistan 1975-1998. Ustad Shah Wali is from Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

When Russia invaded Afghanistan & millions Afghan's seek refuge in Pakistan Ustad Shah Wali came to Khyber Agency formerly Fata now KPK. Shah Wali stayed in my uncle house then moved to Peshawar to find more musical programs opportunities.Shah wali was thin young man. Oh God im crying😢. I'm Afghan live in California,USA. Currently on vacation in Afghanistan. Would love to pay a visit to my house & meet back in USA. I love Ustad Shah wali.

Zama pa khayal ki tasu Pukhtu waylashee? Che kala tasu pa Afghanistan ki wa, da musiqi halat na beghir nor halatuna singa dee. Ma oraydellay dee che da halat der kha day. Da khudai pa iman Ps, sta uncle suh nom day? Pa Pekhawar ki kum zay pata shoowee? Ws (Akhtar day Mubarak sha!)
