“A late bloomer” in comparison to people who move out before they’re ready, accumulate debt by making financial mistakes before they’ve even got a paying profession and have to pay all kinds of bills only to be stressed, miserable and end up moving back home? This is only the American / Western way. Backwards mentality. In many other cultures, like Caribbean cultures for example, this ain’t a stigma. In other homes/cultures, like Asian cultures, it’s actually considered abandonment to leave your parents without even being married rather than stay and help. It’s funny. There is not a monolithic “right” way when it comes to moving out. You are doing so well for yourself! I really dislike that American culture works to shame young people for not doing things by the “particular age” that many others have just to prove we’ve reached maturity, bc that’s really what it is. That only leads young people into bad situations. Also, I know 30 is hella young, but you look like you’re in ur mid 20s lol! Youre inspiring to me as a 26 yr old trying to pave her own path as well! You inspire me to be more independent and confident! Congratulations on this next wonderful step in your life and for doing it YOUR way rather than succumbing to irrelevant outside pressures! Turning the key to your own apartment!? I know that’s right! 💅🏾💛🫶🏽
