This video is so helpful! For years I was excited about flexibility in the Ashtanga class but I saw nothing change in fact only experienced pain in my calves. Pilates on the reformer really taught me to engage muscles, and build resistant tension in each movement, improving my life, my body and yoga practice so much. Light weighted pilates, upping protein, trampoline and dancing to release the fascia and understand elasticity in movement, and longer intermittent fasts (24-36 hours) every three months have completely changed the way I look, think and feel. Structure is very difficult in all areas when your body itself resists structure!

That was brilliant! just standing up for long periods of time can be tiring when hypermobile. i feel abit like the scarecrow off the wizard of oz when dorothy lets him down for the first time. its very stressful for the brain. i only realized i have ehlers danlos hypermobility within the last 6 months and i am 43. i wish i had heard this advice 30 years ago.

Diaphragmatic breathing use all the time? Use all day?
@AlbaYogaAcademy5 күн бұрын
its important to practice breathing in a variety of ways but ideally we should have diaphragmatic breathing as our resting state of breathing throughout the day

Hey 🙋🏻♀️ in lunge, the front foot totally straight or Or slightly facing out?
@AlbaYogaAcademy5 күн бұрын
the body loves variety and there are neurological mapping benefits to working the foot in a variety of angles. A straight foot is a great starting point but not the finish line

Hi! How is the breathing in cat/cow and when you push leg in the next exercise inhale or exhale?
@AlbaYogaAcademy5 күн бұрын
try not to get into a habit of making rules about when to breathe you can play with it and mix it up to give the brain more novelty which is highly effective in helping the body cope with pain

I think this is only half true. I NEVER had back pain my whole life. I surfed giant waves (20-40 ft) and put my back through some of the gnarliest wipeouts you can imagine. My pain STARTED from concrete work (lifting heavy bags). I trained my whole life to be a big wave surfer (cardio, breathwork, yoga, etc.). My back was not trained to lift heavy objects and maintain form through that lift. The pain I am experiencing is 100% pain from herniation and nerve disruption, not psychological. Time will heal it. I don't think my brain can suddenly decide, OK, I am GOOD to go. This is an injury. Take it seriously, guys! Also don't do work you didn't sign yourself up for in a contract. Protect your back and create boundaries with your employer! If I signed myself up for concrete work I would've taken a weight lifting class to ensure I was ready for it.

Please dont misunderstand me . i am not saying the pain in psychoogical. ALL PAIN is from the brain even if there is trauma. That's not to say it's being made up, it's very real. But no matter if you arm is being cut off by a knive, the pain you feel is still an output from the brain and NOT AN INPUT! Worth diving deeper in the neuroscience of pain as it's a complex and fascinating world that will blow your mind.
