pretty good results from a low-tech approach. energy is lost if the launcher is able to move, due to recoil. reduce the amount of mass in the slider. fewer winds of thicker wire. perhaps, reduce the length of each 'side rail' contact. reduce friction by reducing the slider contact areas and the amount of 'pressure' at the contacts. 0406 could have used short pieces of more flexible hook-up wire to make the connections between the coil and the contacts. googletranslate

A few tips to go faster. Seperate the contact strip from thr magnet strip and slightly advance them with sections. It will help advance the timing as it goes faster especially toward the end. Also you could cut down on back emf /arcs if there was a break between the alternating contacts that shorted the coil together. Just some tips that I have seen others employ. You did great though. Awesome project.

@newmonengineering
@newmonengineering 2 күн бұрын
@WonderMaker66 you want to short the 2 terminals of the coil before switching the poles. So the contacts should be + then short then - then short then + you get the idea. After the coil breaks contact it needs to be shorted together to kill off the back field

Have you seen the magnetic transmission you gotta check it out, bro. He does some stuff like that, but he does the magnets and different patterns and it makes it to where you spin one disc and like the fourth disc spins like 50 times faster than the first and it’s all stepped up by magnets.

@@WonderMaker66 ah, got it. You meant accelerating to 100 km/h within 0.1 seconds. From the video title, it sounds like you achieve a speed that can move the probe 100 km within 0.1 seconds. That would be 3.6 million km/h, or 0.334% the speed of light ;-)

Contacts should activate more forward magnets AND be secondary switched via charged capacitors. But you have the right idea.
@WonderMaker66
@WonderMaker66 24 күн бұрын
Each array will have a magnetic field switching. I know the speed seems not fast enough, but it is actually because of the poor contact of the power supply. I am trying to improve it.

My main purpose is not to make an electromagnetic cannon, but to make an electromagnetic catapult, so that I can use the base to launch anything, not limited to magnetic materials.
@WonderMaker66
@WonderMaker66 24 күн бұрын
That's true, but that would greatly increase the complexity of the electronic circuit design. I might try it later. The current method can achieve the emission effect using only mechanical connections.
@user-zw6zm1qy5l

@WonderMaker66 Don't use magnetic field switches, Hall effect transistors or reed switches as these are all magnetic, and may complicate things. Use infrared sensors or tiny light beams crossing the path to switch the forward coils.

Nice! You’d get an even better fit if you account for springback. So to get a 90 degree angle you need to bend a bit more than 90 degrees because the metal will spring back a little. How much exactly depends on the exact material
