In the early to late 70's this song was played often on the radio in my home town of Hazlehurst, Ga. Sweet memories

I have a collection of Tennessee Ernie Ford records. I remember playing this song on an old RCA record player that played 78, 45, 33, and 16. The record player had a red plaid appearance on the outside, and the turntable was made of steel.

In July 1972 I attended Duke Street Baptist Church in Richmond, UK. A friend was being baptised. That morning, at dawn I had accepted Christ as my saviour. At the end this was sung and people were asked to come forward. I was in the front row of the balcony, the next thing I rmember was being at the front of the chuurch singing this lovely hymn I had never even heard before. Some years later I was a counsellor at a Mission to London with Luis Palau, and it was sung every night!

I am a lover of old architecture, especially historical churches and lived seeing these abd would live to visit them. I'm glad you showed THE REAL church the song was written about as thr final building. It was my joy to visit it 3 years ago. I now live only 45 minutes from it. The church still exists and has services every Sunday and even hosts 50+ weddings every year. They sing this song at every service. It's open to tourists 6 days a week and they evrn have a set of shelves I'm the back with souvenirs ofvthe church including the sheet music for the song. No attendant. It's l on a TRUST basis. It has prices in everything and a box to put the money in. My visit was ine ofvthe few highlights of my life!

This Reminds Me Of Going To Church With My Grandparents In South Hill, VA. I Used To Spend Summers With Them From New York City, And We Went To A Little Country Church Every Sunday, Where Everyone Knew Everyone. And This Was One Of The Songs We Used To Sing! Churches Were Fun Back Then. There Would Be Church Dinners, Church Picnics, And Church Social Dances. ❤ Churches Don't Do This Anymore Today. 😓

1 Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness, Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve; Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. Refrain: Bringing in the sheaves, Bringing in the sheaves, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves; Bringing in the sheaves, Bringing in the sheaves, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. 2 Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows, Fearing neither clouds nor winter's chilling breeze; By and by the harvest, and the labor ended, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. [Refrain] 3 Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master, Though the loss sustained our spirit often grieves; When our weeping's over, He will bid us welcome, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. [Refrain] Source: African Methodist Episcopal Church Hymnal Author: Knowles Shaw (1834-1878),

Back in 2000 my mom got a computer custom made (Windows ME Packard Bell computer) and she used it to download a bunch of karaoke tapes she bought online through a catalog at the time. As a young toddler me and my parents packed the computer up which took forever in our van each week to karaoke. Sometimes I would sing but a lot of the time I either watched or helped out with requests paper to put into the computer. This song I remember was on one of those tapes and she had it downloaded. Still have the computer to this day and still works 23 years later
