I'm assuming that Kiryu have some of that Dark Signer powers left to knockout Lotten? Also, if Des Gunman and Climber would one of these days or years they made real in both the TCG and OCG: It wouldn't be a surprise that their effects would go hand in hand together. Especially with Climber, who would gain an update with it's effect.

Not telling Climber's effect and using chainlinks (just like in competitive gameplay), along with using the very best deck competitive wise, Kiryu really was a special character in the show. This arc didn't feel interesting to me back when I first watched it, but as time has gone by the show just keeps offering me new things to pick up on.

You know a drill. If I draw a monster, you're gone for. But if this card will be Spell or Trap, then I'll lose. I lost a count how many monsters are in my deck currently. So... do you feel lucky? Lawton: <look on Doom Slinger, who chuckles maliciously> Very well. Do your worst. <Kalin draws> Hahahahaah! You're done! Kalin: Infernity Climber have a other opinion! Lawton: What? B-But I though your top card...?! Kalin: Was a Blaster Cadridge? Too bad. You was so focused on Doom Slinger you're forgot about Infernity Climber. I find it stupid for Lotten to choose the Draw option. Kiryu is using an Infernity deck, a deck mostly composed of monster cards with barely any spells and traps. It's a huge L.

It's a fair observation but there was a reason for that choice. Kiryu the previous turn activated a spell which placed itself at the top of the deck. Lotten was sure he had the spell, but Kiryu sneaked Infernity Climber at the top with its effect just by saying "you understand, right?", when Lotten was too focused on Death Gunman

During the last turn of the Duel when Kalin activates the effect of "Infernity Death Gunman", he states that if the top card of his Deck is a Monster Card, he will win, but if it is a Spell or Trap Card, then he will lose. According to "Death Gunman's" card text, that last part is inaccurate because Kalin would have received damage equal to the amount of effect damage he had received that turn, which was 0. (Therefore, Lawton technically had no reason to gamble on "Death Gunman's" effect.)

@@mosesc. Lotten still has a monster with 3000 DEF and 1 card in his hand. Kiryu has no cards on his field and the next card he draws is Climber, which has no effects on the field. Accepting Death Gunman's deal is way riskier for Lotten. Had he refused, this duel would slowly turn to his favor.

@@ShadowHazy You didn't watch the episode, so you don't know why Lotten took that gambit. The turn before, Kiryu activated the Magic Card Bullet and Cartridge which ended up being placed on the top of his deck. Because of this, Lotten assumed that his victory was assured which is why he took the risk. Kiryu also took a risk because he was counting on Lotten being so focused on Bullet and Cartridge being on the top of his deck, that he wouldn't notice Infernity Climber's effect to tip the Duel into his victory. Basically, it's mind games layered on top of the card game, which is fitting because Crash Town is Wild West themed and mind games go hand in hand with it.

if anyone is wonder why Kiryu was so dead set(hehe) on going after Lotten to finish a card game here's your context: the two kids from Crash Town who he met? their father sacrificed his life so Kiryu and his kids could be freed from the mines where many people, the father included, were being forced into labor, and that man died, he wasn't saved by a ledge or miraculously came back, he is D.E.A.D and Kiryu wasn't going to let Lotten get away and render his sacrifice in vain, that's why he wanted to end the duel and put a solid vision bullet to Lotten's head.

Lotten only lost because he literally ignored what Infernity Climber's effect does, all he thinks is "I am sure that the top card of his deck is a magic card"
