I never thought the Phantom story without musical could be soooo touching! In the first half, before the Phantom appeared, just the sound gave me goosebumps, and it was exactly what I had imagined when I read the book, the irresistible sound…I really love this version,University Wits you did a good job😭👍❤

Hello KZbin comment section! I don’t know if any of you will see this, but this is Kyle Walker - the writer and director of “Gaston Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera.” I wanted you to know that all of the love and support you’ve given my show throughout the years really helped motivate me to continue working on it. Anytime I needed a pick-me-up, I would visit this comment section. I am floored that people are still discovering this video, as recent as 3 months ago! And now all that work has paid off! The revised and workshopped version of the play in this video has been published by Next Stage Press and is now available for purchase and licensing. I want to thank you all for your support, your humor, and your candor. So… “Hold my beer.” Stare lovingly into Erik’s “cute eyes.” Gaze at the “sweetest and dreamiest Raoul you’ve ever seen.” Marvel at Christine with the "Eliza Hamilton personality." Balk at the "kooky" Madame Giry. Laugh with Gaston "Mr. Feeny" Leroux. Celebrate the inclusion of the daroga (I still don’t understand why this hasn’t been done more). “Scare the crap” out of yourself with “an accurate depiction of the unmasking scene.” And scream, rant, love and hate every twist I threw at you! Regards, Kyle Walker

28:05 This is already the naughtiest version of RHPS I've ever seen. Curse my wandering eyes, but Janet's bottoms are so sheer. Golly… 😳😳[bites knuckle] But for real, though. Aesthetically this is such a good show so far, the acting is really good and the singing is great! I'm watching a bunch of performances because I'm writing a tribute book to one of my most favorite musicals ever.

As another fellow Frank of the past, I have to say I really - (30:46) - HOLY $#!+!!!! WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET HIM!? How can two mad scientists follow the same recipe and get such wildly different results? WRAP. IT. UP. (And, strictly as an aside, you can't convince me that Frank's death here wasn't in some capacity inspired by Jem Jender's Dying Swan from "Dragtime").

Not my favourite rendition of Sweet Transvestite, but a respectable performance. Frank is a bit strange looking (scary even). It's Frank's hairdo that spoils it for me; the rest of his make-up is not bad at all.

"What kind of barrels, you ask? Filled with water? Filled with wine? No, Gunpowder" This is now my new favourite quote 👌🤣 The guy playing Erik is just too good at it The moves, the stuttering, even the face! ALSO The lighting makes him look green which is even better !!! ALSO 1:46:08 I want to scream. I just want to scream (funnily enough, this reminds me of actually *two* musicals... if you guess the other one, means you're Polish and probably live in the capital) Another Also I just love the conclusion so much. All that Raoul is Leroux and how the guy playing Erik looked like, cuz he was as well Lon Chaney XD but all in all, THERE IS SO MANY THINGS ABOUT IT THAT I LOVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE MADE MORE OFFICIAL THAN JUST A VIDEO ON YT. IT SHOULD BE THE NEW STAGE VERSION OR MADE INTO A MOVIE OR SOMETHING! DAMN! Also... In this version Erik had killed his mother... good to know... And Carlotta had a redemption arc... And is it just me or do Erik's eyes from under the mask look just cute? Especially whenever he closes them and opens again. Just two little black dots (So Erik's) Maybe that made me more scared when Christine took off the mask for the first time 🤣

i must say, this was a very inventive production, with a lot of nice touches... so much work for a relatively small crowd (and space)... hopefully there were a number of performances so the effort was worth it? (as a community theatre actor myself, i know it's kind of a bummer to put a ton of effort into something and have the attendance be a little low). kudos to frank n. furter, who was quite good, and also to janet, who i think has a certain "something;" i think both have a shot (professionally), so good luck should you pursue that...

They're all miked, yet you can only hear them half the time? It's a black box theater, should be easy to hear. The bondage bustier on Frank-n-furter is interesting, as is the mohawk on Rocky. Really dislike the Greek chorus in black that are in every scene-works for Little Shop, not for this one. Narrator is the best part of the show.

@@jordoncarnegie1206 I do wish the actors were easier to hear as I do see mics but can't hear them all the time. Mics are also expensive- we got lucky with our production. (We open in 3 days!! 0_0) Unfortunately we probably won't record ours since we can't post it, otherwise I'd love to share it. (I'm Riff Raff for ours.) Is University Wits a theater company with core members, and is it still running?

@@amyleerae89 yeah sounds was a challenge but it was the largest musical done in that space ever at that time. With a loud live band, sound is a challenge in a small space. No the company is no more. I was Frank and my mic constantly went out (argh!) Re: posting. There are sooooo many videos of rocky online. The publishers don't really police it. Neither does Richard o brien

Ah well. The Director is very wary of being sued but we’ll see. I’d be a little hesitant to post as I’m super nervous about Time Warp. I’d still like to share our production if I could, especially if it’s not something they care about. It’s fun to look at how productions do things differently!
