Go to hi-hat piano roll > cmd+a (to select all midi notes) > function > randomize velocity > set velocity of hi hats lower than snares (in the mix as well) > repeat with snares (but with different velocity values, smaller gap between ranges) You can also pan the hi hats slightly right or left (-15 max, +15 max) Go to bus sends on your hats track > select a bus > send level 0.0 (adjust the aux tracks [bus] fader to minimize) > under fx add delay > add short delay to emphasize the hats > adjust fader levels (usually -15db and further) to mix the delay With velocity ranges, when it prompts you to select the values, try anything from 80 (highest) and 55 (lowest) and experiment with numbers in between. Every track calls for something different due to its intended vibe. Not my real account here but either way, producers and engineers gotta look out for their own.
