LoL it's the opposite. Classic format is declining because the first hour of the game is just an imitation of a computer program. Real intuition and creativity come out in faster time controls

50 years ago, we didn't have stock fish 16 and even then Fischer was complaining about chess becoming a game of memory. Engines certainly don't help. This is an engine problem, more broadly a technology problem. People want to advance technology at the expense of everything else, this will only worsen chess as time goes on, and chess will be the least of our worries.
