Hello my friend? I fixed a broken wire in the Brake Fluid Reservoir Cap of my 78' 924 that was broken for a long time, and I topped up the brake fluid a week ago when the warning light came on. Yesterday, the brake warning light came on again, so I checked and found that there was a leak in the master cylinder. Since there are no symptoms of a bad master cylinder when braking, I think the last O-ring that prevents the leakage inside the cylinder has reached the end of its life. Thanks to the restoration video you uploaded, I think it would be cheaper to buy a repair kit and repair it than to buy a new master cylinder, so I am leaving a comment as a thank you. My master cylinder is a different cylinder shape than your 924, and after looking it up, I found that my 924 has the M471 option (front/rear disc brakes), and it is a cylinder used in the 924 turbo and 928. However, when I looked for the 928 brake cylinder, it is different from mine. According to the official Porsche parts list for 76~79, 928 355 913 00 is the repair kit part number. (928 355 913 00 was later changed to 928 355 913 02) I have one question. Is it difficult to remove the internal parts without using air pressure like in the 6 minute video? I think it would be harder to find an air tool that matches the threads of the brake cylinder. Anyway, I look forward to your 924 restoration video that is starting again.
@RestorationApprentice3 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's very hard to remove it. Maybe it's not that clear in the video, but I actually I used a grease gun to remove it, it fits right in the inlet. And it a messy job, removing all the grease afterward.
@GUNPLASHOP3 ай бұрын
@@RestorationApprentice I bought a master cylinder rebuild kit and it should arrive in 2 weeks. I've seen other videos on rebuilding master cylinders and they seem to be easy to remove internal parts without pressure, but my 924 is old school and after watching your video I'm worried that my cylinder might be struggling. I'm going to plug all the screw holes and use air pressure. Good luck to me.
