Every character that you love has certain traits that you'd want to be kept consistent if they got adapted, and you wouldn't be wrong if you got mad over things being changed like that. Your claim about this not happening when characters are white washed is also untrue. How many years has it been since Gods of Egypt or M. Night's "The Last Airbender"? And people still bring them up as some of Hollywood's worst examples of whitewashing in recent years.

Why does some comic characters like wally or Tim have to be white? If we can be ok with white actors playing roles of characters who weren't white. Then same should be the other way around. Aang and goku live action actors were white. (I still dont see an issue cause they are just doing their jobs and shouldn't be harassed for existing and were best for the roles for how it is) same thing with characters like Dr who where ppl stoll coming that the doctor was played by a woman and now complaint that it is a black gay actor playing the role, making claims that " the doctor isn't black, it isn't racist for me to say this but the doctor is white and always will be white, this goes against the show.
