Respect only age and kimono. The karate he does has nothing to do with karate, just jumping.

This is what karate competition should be. You don't anounce the technique. If you hit your oponent, you win a point, if your oponent manages to deflect the attack, he wins a point. And you switch each turn. Simple, elegant and lean competition.

I skipped throught he video but saw noone being 'beat' with a stick. I saw once someone getting a rap on the head with the shinai. I took Karate in America in the 80s and it was common to get a whack on the back of the knee if stance wasnt low enough. We would get a whack on the butt if we did something stupid like make full contact with an opponent. At the same time, in public schools, teaches were allowed coproral punishment and they made a show of it. Teachers would have bespoke paddles with names that were designed for extra delivery of pain. I was paddled many times, and every time I deserved it. I survived and I look back at it all with nothing but laughter. Stripping a man of his career because he whacks students with a shinai is a disgrace. I take Karate now, and the shinai sits in the corner, unused. I actually miss getting a whack from the shinai when I am being lazy of stupid. If I were to practice in Japan, I would absolutely expect it, and if I didnt like it, I would just leave.

It was a different time, different people and mores, a different karate world! But you're right!

I trained with Naka at Takudai in 1986. He was a good karate ka then. However, most of the dojo was excellent under Tsuyama Senseis tutelage.

هذا ما نفتقده الآن في الكاراتي ،لحسن الحظ يوجد نظام kwf للسانسي ياهارا الذي مازال يحافظ على المبادئ الكبرى للكاراتي وهي البيدو وليس الرقص .

oss Kagawa sensei is the best instructor to explain details this is my opinion after 55years of practice shotokan karate and its not my opinion many of the top Japanese masters from different group admit this. its a great loss to sport karate that he is not any more the national coach of Japan JKF.

That's not exactly what he said. In Japanese he said, Unsu wa, watashi no karada no jinsei desu." (雲手は私の体の人生です。) If anything, as a direct translation he would be saying, "Unsu is the life of my body ", which would make no sense in English. What he's actually inferring is, the physical and dynamic essences of Unsu are the qualities he seeks to embody, and or does embody. More or less.
