whether one is Indian Chinese, Spanish Jew mixed, if you are born in Trinidad and lived for most of your formidable years there you carry the soul of an African. .Many mixed races have realized that no matter what you may choose to follow,, whether Hindu, Muslim, Sephardic, or Syrian, some Hindus and others mixed races spend thousands of dollars sending their kids to learn how to adapt to any other culture except what in their soul. There is a saying you can take a person out of Brooklyn, but you cannot take Brooklyn out of someone, the sentiment exactly, I know of some Trinidadian who lives in a different country, who choose to interact with what they been told they were as children, even though they can say they are white British, with blond hair and blue eyes, sooner or later somewhere, somehow someplace heartaches you will encounter because the truth is whatever you look like, whatever you're trying to blend into, a society that you will never fit in. Some Trini with the Asian last name, try blending in with the Asian,, or even the Indian try blending in with them. My story and others like me with ethnic background, of Asian, Sephardic, MiddleEast and for some reason as many times I mingle with Asians or Indians, or MiddleEast I never felt comfortable, or accepted, as some of us go into my grandmother father MiddleEast, or my father Asian,. last name Asian omitting the black part of their father. The other part of my life saga, along with my few Jewish friends that one is a Jew if your mother is jew, or it so fitting for me as a woman and my accomplishment, that my success only was possible because of my Sephardic background, and of course all the sentiment of how proud one should be of the Jewish heritage, not forgetting the few Jewish friends I had always brought that to the table, but still yet, I never felt accepted, plus despite my education background my trial tribulations, successes, what others from the outside watching in, will time and time again comment on, how strong mind I am that through all my ups and down I manage to always get back up, some commenting on my life story or book will be so encouraging, all words as often as I heard them from my peers and others It had no bearing on me, just doing then best I can and never wanting to give up. On this particular day, prior to the pandemic,a conference amongst my peers, someone I suspected may have been backstabbing me or jealous of me, never paying it any mind, until a conversion at a conference, possibly I mention my home where I was bornIn Trinidad and Tobago, out of nowhere "you are Black, right after my mention of my birthplace Of Trinidad, in my mind, there was a silence as I turn to her and said by her " name I thought you knew this,, Yes I am black, as a gentleman I had worked with professional interrupted the awkward moment to deny no you not from Trinidad, , people from there are Africans, , I turn to him and said "exactly," As I turn to walk away My saying words were Oh by the way To those who had said how you admired my strength, many other could not have done what I have done, in face of all my diversity,, now you all knw what it is that runs through my veins we are not easily broken, and for any one of you up to something, You all should know better than that ", as I walk away flood of emotion . To others who have been there, or who think oh they can pull it off, or ashame of who you are fooling yourself you will be called out when you least expect it, and for some, it can be a heartbreaking situation. There are certain attributes that distinguish a true African is not the color of our skin or the texture of our hair, what distinguish us is the way we handle life, if we don't have a pair of shoes to get to an important something we walk barefoot, we will get it done, no other ethnicity can match our natural rhythm dance no thousands on dance classes we have natural movement in sync in our souls. we are fierce warrior, we don't run, we will battle even the fiercest creature, with our young ones on our backs and come out whole, while other wonders how you manage, how you did it, they amaze thinking that we are superhumans, no we are not superhumans we were built with parts to last, a word to my sisters be very wary of some doctors who gets rich off young black men organs if you don't already know this, some of the poor African mothers lose their sons and daughters still wondering how come they just went in with a small problem and they died, then these murderous doctors will play on mother grief, if that should ever happen to you don't let these organ reapers get away with this evil, as always its the creepy looking vampire who have money looking to take your sons organ and unethical doctors who are only in this field for this unethical things. don't let them fool you or get away with this evil. There is something so strong inside each and everyone one of us, we are not easily broken they know that they will never able to withstand our inner strength our wits, commonsense, they know this, and we should never forget this!

I am so glad to have come across this little snippet of Trinidad History. I was born in Port of Spain but moved to New York when I was 3 years old. I am also a Seventh-day Adventist which is a subculture of cultures. Blessings!
@trinihammer2 жыл бұрын
seventh day adventist is considered a small church in trinidad. roman catholic and anglian english church are the two big christian churches in trinidad. too be honest i think the hindu religion is bigger than seventh day adventist in trinidad also.
