cook the sauce components on the same pan bro, you wasted the meat fond at the bottom you could have cooked the onions on it and deglazed it with the tomato sauce, also drain your meat its too greasy.

It's OK saying this but you have to be in the same building as the great unwashed who frequent spoons. I'd rather die of thirst to be honnest....

I watch a lot of KZbin rubbish during the day but this channel is one of my absolute favourites. Thank you so much for providing this homely food and shop advice channel. I went to farmfoods for the fist time because of your clips,it's brilliant. Just a tip, having a bit of green pesto in the fridge for spag bol adds a bit of extra fresh and herby flavour.

And oil on the top browning for longer will absorb more of the oil add the tomatoes as it just starts to stick

Solid advice, I'd advise browning the mince for longer, you're looking for a darker brown, crispy brown. This happens when the majority of the water has evaporated from the mince (store bought mince is packed full of water, which is why it gives off so much liquid and appears to get so much smaller when cooked). The browning process is called the Mayard reaction and is a major source of flavour at no extra ingredient cost. If you can add a very finely chopped carrot or celery stick (approx one per portion, the very fine chopping is because you don't want to eat chunks of thes vegetables in the Bolognese, but cut very small they basically melt into the sauce and you'd never know they're there - great for convincing kids to eat more veg too) this can add a lot of depth of flavour, especially if you cook it for a long time - a cheap slow cooker is great for this as you can set things up to cook slowly and safely whilst you are at work. (If you're dubious about celery or carrots, check the back of your ketchup bottle, you'll see why I'm recommending it). To combat the problem of vegetables being slow in too large a quantity (celery is the worst for this, using a whole head can be challenging) cook in a largeer quantity. Having a huge pot that you can cook many many meals in all at once can be a great use of effort on your days off to save on cooking throughout the week, just freeze and leftovers and unfreeze as required. Personally, my big pot is ~9L.

Leaving it like that let's the flavours blend and cook into the meat though, otherwise you'll have unflavoured ,dry beef in really tangy and bland pasta sauce. If it's beef on it's own as in a burger and steak then it makes sense to brown it but not when it's in a sauce

@@Dimensionalalteration I promise it tastes better when cooked over a long time. The mince is not a separate ingredient but a part of the sauce and creating the fond will impart much much more flavour. It's not dry it is part of a flavourful sauce. You'll brown the mince, remove it, get the veg started, add the tomato paste (another cheap and delicious add) fry briefly and add the mince back in along with the tinned tomatoes. Cook for as long as you can (low and slow, not burning it), even leaving it overnight in the fridge if possible (hence the bulk cooking suggestion, the second portion is always better). Whilst this is technically the same thing that gives a beef burger etc. its flavour like you say, the treatment after browning is completely different, which is why it works.

In the UK ,yes but if you go abroad it might be different, I tried to make coffee in india and my husband panicked, the coffee was like war time coffee not like real coffee anyway. I would rob the remote, binliners etc. I did collect all soaps and shampoos 😂because they're so cute and I want to keep the smell of my honeymoon 😊. Most of northern Europe would probably let you have shampoos, soaps, teas and coffees.
