For your first try needle felting and with not so great of instructions I think you did a pretty good job. 😊 I promise there are definitely better kits out there for us beginners some with lots of photos explaining each step along the way which I love. I've also lucked out finding some great tutorials here on KZbin. Check out some needle felting videos if you decide you want to keep at it, I know they've been a life saver for me. Got to say I love your little sausage doggo, he's got character. 😊

I assume that for the scratching technique to work better you’d need a thick layer of wax underneath. Perhaps a stronger piece of paper too.
