Hi, just after seeing this video, I have something similar but what happens with me is that I would be driving for about 20 minutes or so, I don't have any heat and the gauge doesn't move, then all of a sudden after awhile driving the gauge straight to about 80 degrees and the heat works mighty. So I dumbfounded as to what is wrong. I'm thinking it may be the thermostat but not sure. So fingers crossed it will work when I change it. Cheers

My friend. You made a video about a yr ago, replacing the master cylinder/clutch pedal assembly. How can i tell if my master or the slave cylinder is going out? Pedal is LIMP but im not seeing much moisture at the assembly and not seeing any moisture really anywhere. Thanks a ton
@mike_themechanicАй бұрын
Unfortunately both items will have similar symptoms. I went for the master cylinder first as it is cheaper and easier to replace than the slave cylinder as that requires removing the gearbox

Im the first owner...this is pissing me of...so i might sell perfect car just for this annoyed issue. Thansk
@mike_themechanicАй бұрын
I haven't got a good answer for you I'm afraid. The only thing I haven't changed is the pipes so I think that is my next guess. I'm not loosing fluid from the reservoir so I'm pretty sure that the system is not leaking, so I can only assume that the system is suckling in air from somewhere and I suspect the pipes somewhere
@huugle3Ай бұрын
Well Mike, let's imagine that the pipe is the issue. If so, why this is not happening in summer. We are using the same pipes wright? 😅
@mike_themechanicАй бұрын
@huugle3 my guess is it's sucking air through a joint maybe. In summer the joint is warm and fits as it should, but in winter it shrinks and allows air in the system. As I say this is only a theory but as I've changed everything else it's the only thing I can think of
@huugle3Ай бұрын
@mike_themechanic makes perfect sense. Do you maybe have a drawing to point out where thoes joints who are critical are located? Even a sketch would help me to check. Thanks mate

Very useful video. If only the strut removal process was actually that quick! It must be a wife thing! I lent my similar vintage Volvo XC60 to herself for a weekend and it came back with identical spring damage to yours. Very impressive. Springs never used to fail in my youth and I understand that it is because after forming the spring it was shot blasted and this peened the surface and makes them much more fatigue resistant. That process is time consuming and therefore expensive so….

I have just started having problems with my clutch. When I am holding clutch few seconds it slowly disengage and I cannot change gear or even worse when I am waiting on red light holding clutch and brake the car engine dies like If I had it put on gear and released the clutch. The clutch works fine when I fully release it so right now when I am slowing down I have to shift into neutral and use clutch only when I am going to use gas pedal. The car has 100 000 KMs and serviced regularly. I hope it won't be slave cylinder, else the repair (not parts, but manhours in car service) will be pretty costly, not counting not having car in coming winter season.
